I have this problem.

I get 50 ~ 80 fps mostly but I have this weird sudden freezes that happen on the same exact places. They last for about 10 ~ 30 seconds and it really annoying. Any help?

btw, I have 2 gigs of ram, a 6600GT, 3.2ghz CPU.....

Sounds like an overheating problem. Do you have a program that checks your CPU and GPU temperature?

No, its not overheating, and it freezes at the exact same spots too.

Would this the exact same spot probably mean the checkpoints?
Cuz my HL2 does freeze for about 10-30 second at checkpoint, and then couple of hiccups afterwords and smooth sailing thereafter and that's all. Mind you that I have my settings almost to the max with 2XAA and 4XAF HDR Full, Shadows High and Vertical Sync off.

2.0GHz AMD A. 64 (754), 1GB (PC2700) At 333MHz, WinXP (SP2) and BFG 6800 GT Ultra OC 256MB. Which I think am getting way more than supposed to for my spec. Normally get 50-70 FPS in intense areas. GJ VALVe.

not the checkpoints. Completely random locations.

3.2ghz CPU
6600GT (128mb)
2 G ram
9.0c DX

what more do you want?

If this happens at random Locations, and always happens at same random location, I don't think its hardware problem but your HL2 acting up.

I don't know why it would. Its worked on my other (and sucky) computers..

Your social security number.

Well if its a hardware it would freeze up in different locations but not if you come back to the location.

Example. when in your buggy and driving up Highway 17 if it is a hardware it will freeze up say on the bridge but when you came back the same location where game frozed it won't freeze again but if its a software it would do the same thing it did.
I don't even know what I wrote but hope you got it.

Yeah, I got you.

This is the only computer that has been able to run HL2 like I want it to run, but now.... :(

And also your System Spec exceeds way beyond requared spec, so I don't think it a hardware. And if you OC something and something is overheating in the system you get four results. You will either crash system, hardware will keep coughing up at random areas, you will notice your frame dropping rabidly, poor performance like your HDD never quiting and that little led is lid the entire time.
