Review

If Nintendo think i'm going to fork out another 35 quid to play yet another Mario game .... they're absolutely right. I love the little guy. I don't think Super Paper Mario will blow people away, but if you're a fan of the 2d games and/or the Paper Mario rpgs this is pretty much a no brainer.

I'm personally kind of skeptical about the gameplay in Super Paper Mario. It seems overly simplistic in every video I have seen of it. Every puzzle involves something being in the way or an unclear path appearing and the solution everytime is have mario flip to 3d.

I like some of the art style and i'm sure there's decent dialogue and story but this game just seems incredibly simple. I'll wait for more reviews :(

What's there to be skeptical about? By now most people know if they like Mario games or not - there'll be running about and jumping on things. It sounds like there's a few new extra twists and variations, as well as some borrowing from the rpg series, but we're basically getting another 2d Mario for the Wii.

Super Mario games are always just fun to play, nothing more. And you don't need anything more, because they're so damn fun.

I think maybe I just watched too many videos from the very first part of the game where there really wasn't much going on. I'll wait for the reviews, but I know mario games, as simple as they may be, are always fun.

Looks beautiful. And yes, another 2D Mario is a complete no-brainer!!! Now I just need to find me a Wii!!!

Considering it looks to be using the same characters and animations from the Paper Mario RPG's, i'm hoping it will retain the humour as well. I love Bowser in those games. He kicks ass.

Anyone got a release date for it in the UK? I can't find it anywhere online.

It looks like an absolute winner. If it's anything close to the prior ones, it'll be worth every penny. The Paper Mario series is outstanding.

The Wii has one hell of a year ahead of it. Should be sweet.

Anyone end up picking this up? How is it?

I don't have the money but needed a paper mario fix so I picked up Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door for Gamecube for $20 :p

I got it, and it's absolutely awesome. The game is a lot of fun, and there are some interesting puzzles and secrets that come with the 2D to 3D flipping. The writing in this game is awesome, and there's a character in the game that's clearly based on Lumberg from Office Space.

Interesting footnote: My roommate was watching me play this game for a good 20 minutes. The game, while fun to play, doesn't exactly have cutting edge visuals, and this kid has an Xbox 360. While he's watching, he blurts out "MAN, I wish the Xbox 360 had graphics like these!" in a sarcastic matter. I say to him, "Well, it's a lot of fun to play, and I've been playing for 20 minutes. You've been watching for 20 minutes. What's your excuse?" He kinda just sat there and continued watching.
