Surf_Royce (a high quality surf map)

Just a little Christmas present/proof that it CAN be done nicely, it CAN have style and it CAN be fun.

Total time to make the map: around 36 hours.

The map has lighting, props, some vvis, custom textures blah blah blah. Its probably the nicest surf map in the world at the moment, and im really hoping this causes you mappers who make surf maps to wake up and start learning how to map for real.

Even with all the detail, its still under 7mb.

Excellent work. I'm getting a bit tired of the half-assed "box" style of surf maps. In fact, I got so tired of it I stoped playing them a while ago. They were getting better when I left- I remember surf_lmao was going through several makeovers and was approaching "good-looking", but this takes the cake.

Like you said, hopefully other mappers can start mapping for real, though in their defense surfing was never about eye candy so much as ridiculous acrobatic stunts and sniping bitches from a mile away .

Open up CS:S, and type "surf" in the map name filter. Wait for a second, then choose the one with the lowest ping, wait for the map to download, and begin playing.

My only advice is to sidestrafe into the incline and let yourself be carried forward by momentum.

this is just amazing .. its a dramatic twist on the regular surf maps out there tho i think skyworld and nitrogen arent that bad . is that server still running the map ?
