The PKM has good med-long accuracy now, which combined with the fact that it deals high-end rifle damage makes it quite the meat grinder. The weapon is good for close / med / long range (single shot), making it quite the universal anti-infantry.
The heli's are made of paper now
I was for the nerfing of the chopper but not to this extent, a jeep .50 cal can kill (or get very close to) a chopper before overheating... Jet's tear though a chopper in < 2 seconds worth of machine gun fire :|

good changes all around i think. Helis have the power to destroy anything in one strafe and the speed to get away. The fact that they are now vulnerable balances things out quite nice.

I've played with the PKM a few times (hi-jacked it) & that thing does kick some major booty now - I even tore appart some snipers that were at about 75% of the draw-distance.

They made the Support class more accurate? I was wondering why i was racking up so many kills.
And yeah the heli's are a bit fragile, but if you have good pilots and gunners they can get around easily still.
I think the patch is great.

Actually, jeep .50 cals always could take down helis.
EDIT: That, and I use to require 'bout 4 AA rockets to make the heli go for a repair, they use to be godlike.
I remember helis taking down whole teams...

Helis definitely used to be overpowered, but the problem is that it went too far in the other direction.

I'm for a nerf, but not this big of a nerf. It used to take ~ 2 jeeps to effectively take down a chopper (unless it was damaged prior). Now with reduced HP, a single jeep is like the equivilent of that.
I've gotten used to the AA, they're not that big of a deal anymore. However, jets are way out of hand vs choppers. Against a competent pilot there's almost nothing you can do, it literally takes about 2 seconds worth of machine gun fire to down a chopper. Assuming you react fast enough of and the jet pilot sucks, a second still shaves off half your HP. Personally I can live with that jeep / AA / reduced chopper HP...but it's that jet machine gun fire that I would love to see nerfed (at least vs choppers).

I didn't bother patching, I like my heli. I'll patch when there is no server to play on.

I was really hating the patch when it first came out but that was because I played on a horrid server. I've been finding good ones lately where nobody uses the noob tube and bunny hoppers even get kicked
I'm still not at all happy with the P90 and I think the PKM is too good now while the helis are too fragile and jets could use a slightly faster reload on flares. When I fly those things now a good 50% of my flight time is spent dodging AA missiles and then healing after I get hit by one.
It just seems like they went overboard with the balance changes for the most part.

It'd be great if they went Blizz-style and did incremental changes to balance the gameplay. Drastic changes like they did in this patch made the chopper from flying tank to paper / jet fodder. They had the right frame of mind in nerfing the chopper, but the leap they made was IMO far too great.
*Edit: Having spent a good chunk of the new patch testing out the flying vehicles, the patch has glorified jets to a great deal. It's honestly a cakewalk to shoot down choppers now as a jet (I've been both victim and pilot), just slow down to ~700 speed and choppers are mincemeat via machine gun fire, hell missiles aren't even needed. Although the AA does actually have a use now, it's mainly effective against low-flyers. Divebombing works great and basically be aware of the enemy AA placements you'll do fine. I haven't noticed the improved AA affecting my actual scores much...although it has become more than just an annoyance.

Sweet mary mother of god I HAD THE MOST INFURIATING ROUND EVER. Keep in mind this is just from coming off 2 other bad servers One the commander kept arty dropping teammates on purpose because he didn't get his precious helicopter and the other was chalk full of selfish tk'ers on Dalian. One guy even killed 6 people by bombing a blackhawk about to take off and he still doesn't get kicked. I was going into this next game already thoroughly annoyed
It starts with me spawning twice in hotel on Karkand (same spot mind you) and just dying from a guy with a pkm that was prone behind me.
I join up on a squad and be medic since there's all of 0 medics on our team. The round had just begun and MEC still has all the points. The US is spamming grenades to no end in the front of hotel. I get a couple kills then go down from an approaching apc. I spawn again, die to a grenade. By this time US has ninja-capped our gatehouse and I make a squad called GATECAP and yell in caps to everybody that I'm going to try and retake gatehouse because everybody knows, without gatehouse on karkand...MEC loses.
So I spawn at train accident and proceed to try and cap gatehouse the rest of the round yelling every 30 seconds at the retards on my team to stop fighting for hotel when the US is holding gatehouse and is about to take everything out from under their stupid-ass noses. Nobody even says a peep...not even for me to shut up. After like 5 straight minutes of me barely holding train accident (they had eventually just gone around and capped everything but trainyard from the water crossing) I finally sneak my way over to gatehouse and since it's the ONLY point left my stupid team didn't lose yet people start spawning at train accident and they manage to hold it for a few minutes while I still am the only person attempting to recap gatehouse. I actually managed to sneak by everybody (passing up some tempting knife kills just to remain invisible) and get into the building by the flag where you can still cap the flag. It's about this time that our genious commander drops an arty DIRECTLY on top of the building I'm in. I move as far from the windows and doors as I can while still being in flag cap range. Commander gets nobody with the arty but takes me down to 1/2 health.
After the drop ended the flag goes neutral and the onslought begins on my ass. Everybody I had snuck by comes at the house. I kill 5 people with the DAO and pistol as they all come to try and find me (the commander gives me no UAV even though he had it up from a recent supply drop). This is about the time I hear that very unwelcome sound of a tank coming with a gunner firing...Great..the MEC flag is such a minute distance away from the top of the flagpost that I wonder how it's not even capped yet when the tank enters the cap zone. I stay low in the building and the tank approaches. I get up, take a shot and hit the treads only to dive right back down prone before the gunner or driver sees me. Gunner hops out and comes in with a G3, I barely kill him and I'm at red hp. The tank driver is still just sitting there (thank god he's not smart). I fire 2 more shots at him and he jumps out of the tank. I see he's a sniper with his rifle out and rejoice as I easily kill him at close range before he gets his pistol out. At this time I go back in the house and yell at my team some more.
Since the US had 2 people in the cap zone for a little while the flag had gone pretty far back down so I had some time to wait. I was just sitting there, demanding UAV and SOMEBODY to f*cking spawn on me so we could take the point easier. I look at the flag again and it's finally getting to the top. I start a little countdown in my head... 3....2....1....*crack* G3 shot kills me a split second before capping the flag.
At this point my brain explodes with anger and I just go off on my team and then leave.
I'm going to go destroy everything I can find in BLACK.

Yeah, support is freaking crazy now. Last night, I got 3 gold and 4 silver medals, all with PKM. I got almost 1,000 points. It's disgusting.
