I'm going through the game for the second time and trying to experience everything this time....

Anyways at the insertion point station I went up to a vending machine and was amazed that it actually worked (without cash). Would be nice to have the grav gun so I could pummel that stupid guard that made me pick up the can and place it in the trash :)

sv_cheats 1.
;)

you dont have to place it in the trash lol. the first time i played i didnt hear what he said, so i picked the can up and hit him in the face with it. then he will chase you trying to hit you hehe

Best solution for the can sequence: throw it at his face, and when he starts to chase you, run around him and through the gate...

The soda machines worked in HL1 as well. Only then drinking them refilled 1 health per can. I guess Breen's water is non-nutritional.

A real good detail is that Breen's face is crossed out on the Black Mesa employee photo Kliener hangs on his wall.

Drinks machines (and other kinds of machines) have been "working" in games for many years. I have seen other examples of detail as good in other games as the dispensing can machine. It is always a nice touch though, for things to kind of work how you expect them.

:)

I was too busy oohing and aahing at how cool it all looked to notice he'd asked me to pick it up, and he wouldn't move from the door so for ages I was wondering where to go teeheehee.

I pushed him around first time cause i didn't hear what he said.

I put it in the bin, then as soon as he left i picked it up and put it back on the floor.

mwhahahhahaha!

lol

Wouldn't it have been a nice touch if he'd noticed and run back to give you a telling off, hehe that would have been pretty neat :)

I started playing it though again also. And I noticed something interesting (probably old). The two guy talking at the fence at the railroadstation. "Oh no, not that Breen guy again. That's why I moved from City 14." "Quite! This is where they operate from." Or something like that...

Ah, so that's who that is. Was there actually any indication that Breen was the administrator in the original game? I seem to remember a letter or something.

Yeah, I noticed that. There were quite a few things I missed first time through as I was too busy ooing/aaing to stop and smell the flowers. Didn't notice the vortigaunt cleaning rubbish to the right (I knew to go left from the e3 trailer :P), didn't talk to the woman behind the fence (I felt sorry for her...).

The coolest thing in the trainstation, though, is the muttering guy walking back and forth :D

I am doing the same thing as you are doing by going through it a second time to notice the beauty of it.
I ended up noticing this nice little touch to mossman, who (except for breen) seems to be the only person in city17 that wears nice, unsoiled clothing.
guess I was wrong. ;)

Already featured in HL1 :)

lol, it's funny how, with all the little details that are in the game that actually are new, you managed to pick the one that's been done to death :)

To the person who noted that noticed Mossman's sweater was worn: did you notice that her bracelet has the word "progress" on it?

Oh, and when I got past the guard without putting the can in the trash, I'm pretty sure the female PA voice said something about "non-compliance detected" or the like. I'll play it again...
