TF2 Multicore Rendering Issue

Want my systems first? Here:
• AMD Phenom X4 9550 @ 2.21GHz
• 3GB RAM
• GeForce 9800GTX+

Please don't troll over my system specs.

When I run TF2, enabling Multicore Rendering gives me a tiny FPS boost, but I could be getting more, because this game strains my first core while never using the other 3. Oh, and the whole, set-affinity-and-uncheck-CPU0 doesn't work for me either. Any solutions?

The long: I'm pretty sure this has been covered many times in the Steampowered forums. Searching there wouldn't hurt.

The less long: It only seperates core usage for rendering particle effects. That's probably why you're not noticing much.

The short: It doesn't work properly. In fact on some systems it actually adds lag.
 
I have the same problem with all source games execpt l4d. L4D2 seems to use my additional cpus but games like HL2, GMOD, TF2 and CSS don't seem to and they don't recomend multi core rendering like L4D does plus Multi Core does not have any affect on performance and which since it only uses one cpu the performance is not the greatest.
