Should the 9mm Pistol Glitch be Fixed?

Should the glitch that allows you to fire all 18 shos at once with the 9mm be fixed? I dont think so because I rarely see it being used except by me :thumbs: and its hard to get a shot on moving targets because all the shots hit the exact same place. I have shot someone with 10 bullets at once and they survived.
 
theres some other threads about it but here

equip the pistol
hold down the right mouse button, then the left
when ready to shoot, release ONLY the right mouse button
youll fire 2-18 shots depending on how long you hold it down. It takes about 10 seconds for all 18 shots
 
why would you want to get rid of it?

you would think that because no one really uses it, that it would make a difference to you anyway.

so that way the people who do use it (like me) can use it.

it's a bug. Bugs are fixed.
 
Eh. I'm neutral. I can see why it'd be unfair (doing much more damage in the same amount of time), but it also has some balance. You only get one chance, and if you miss then you have to wait for the gun to reload before you can fire again. Plus it takes time to charge up, which equals time for them to plumb you. Although I'd probably vote to take it out if I had to, mainly because it's unrealistic.

Voted Yes. all bugs should be fixed.
 
do you really consider it a bug? it's more of a gameplay complement... according to me...
 
seeing 18 shots fire from the pistol looks awesome. u barely ever get killed that way, not like u cant respawn again. i hope they keep it. makes the pistol useful in a game for a change.
 
They should "fix" the Magnum first. That's more deadly than this bug.

Definately.
1 good hit with the shotgun and you lose 40-60hp, 1 shot with the Revolver and you loose 100hp....

I use it pretty often when I'm out of the smg ammo, while they are trying to "toilet me".
 
i hate when people are like "OMG ITS A BUG IT MUST BE TEH FIXED!"

most "bugs" make games more interesting, you really just have to look at see how it affects gameplay.

1- most important, does it crash the game or screw up the engine at all? no

2- does it render other weapons obsolete and allow people to get lots of points without any skill involved? no

3- the kicker: does it make the game more fun or less? more fun if you ask me, i don't see how it would damper gameplay

its takes like 10 seconds to charge remember...
 
If someone wants to not be able to use a weapon for 10 seconds thats fine, because theyll proabably already be dead... besides, everyone can do it, its not like its not a known "glitch"
 
i think that should be the alt fire of the pistol. like people have said its not really unfair because you have to stay alive without firing for 10 seconds to get all the bullets to fire, which isnt too easy.
 
I've never used it, but I frequent the pistol.

It kills faster from full health than the machine gun, in less shots.


Also, it doesn't bother me that the magnum is so powerful, but they should make it REALLY hard to get. Like you have to stack stuff with physics to get it, or maybe it's on a narrow ledge or something.
 
the magnum seems to do about 100 damage
95 would be fine with me
it's a powerful gun, and should remain so, but it's just idiotic right now
plus with the zoom exploit it's a better sniper weapon than the xbow
 
Fix the bug. Make some more weapons for HL2DM, like a glock or other gun with burst/automatic fire mode. And by the way, since when is a pistol more accurate than a longer barreled SMG? Should really be the other way round.

Well, anyway... it should be fixed. I mean, the pistol already fires real quick anyway. I actually prefer the pistol to the SMG... except for the 'nades of course :)

Just use secondary shotgun to the head... that takes care of em.

It should be, but DM is dependant on something we like to call "balanced weapons".

A pistol that unloads 18 bullets at once is probably a glitch.
 
Keep it, but somehow prevent cheap scripts that take advantage of it from working. If that can't be done, it's gotta go.

i don't really need to see what you look like to sort you out.
there is really no weapon balance in dm... only good weapon placement in maps.

compare magnum to anything else. is it balanced? no, does it need to be? again no.

maybe you can start a "post your picture thread" and then post that pic if you really want to
 
weapon balance is integral to DM. The magnum is ridiculously overpowered at the moment, and its easy to see that it will be nerfed.
 
it doesn't have to be nerfed... weapons don't have to be balanced.

dm is about controlling the map and controlling weapons. if all weapons were "balanced" then they'd be almost no point in getting other ones. why bother when you can stick to the weapons you spawn with
 
i agree to a point but in this case we have one weapon, with too much power, but also having too high a rate of fire, but also extremely accurate at range.

im saying just tone down the rate of fire, because something needs to, and will be done.

not to say i dont enjoy owning with the magnum, i do, but im just saying it needs to be balanced out in a patch.
 
ive fired a real .357 several times and while in real life it could blow you in half with 1-2 shots, THIS IS A GAME! I think the Magnum should do 50-75 damage.
 
i think it is pretty unfair, because you can one hit kill anyone, anytime. but i must say it is quite fun
