Some really cracking games in that lot (especially in the DS list ;))

I want both so badly (I have ds, dont know when i'l get psp), btw very nicely made post warb. So many games to look forward too.

PSP has so many more appealing games to me than the DS....

DS just doesn't feel high-tech to me D: D: Just doesn't feel right if you know what I mean... It just feels almost childish :\

If you're happy with a bunch of downgraded home consoles games....then by all means by the PSP. If you want a console that gives you fun and innovation and games you get no-where else, buy the DS.

Nice list Warbie.

I don't think the PSP list is that bad. There are certain to be some top titles for it (Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Devil May Cry, and Viewtiful Joe should look and play wonderfully on the PSP)

I am worried about GTA for the PSP though. I want it to be a sucess, because I love the GTA franchise and it is the only current reason I would invest in anything Sony.

But reports say that the GTA:Sin City isn't all that good. Apparently, (can't remember the specifics) they have done to GTA what they have done to MGS. Not give it cards, but ruin it by turning it into a glorified movie.

Amen! I don't know how many more times I can say this, but PSP all the way! The release date is drawing nearer...

Why does it have to be incredibly high tech?? Why can't a game just be fun anymore?? Isn't that what games are about?? Am I completely out of line??

I don't know about you guys, but I really don't play a game to sit there and look at it. And if you check some of the reviews the games on the PSP are getting, they're reflecting that statement: average to slightly above average, and not one of the games has blown anyone away like most people think thought they would...90% is the highest score for any game on the PSP right now and it's Wipeout Pure. The DS has very similar reviews for its games and they as well as the system cost much less. I don't feel like dumping $250 for a collection of average games as of now. These games all look terrific, no doubt, but the gameplay side is where all of these are lacking...read every review.

I know this is all my opinion, but I can't be the only one out there that feels slighted. Sony wants $250 from me and all the reviews thus far have basically said these games are no better than what you have on your DS and GBA and sometimes worse. I really hope Sony is coming stronger than this, because so far this is a lot of glitz and glamour to me and it's gonna end up like the Pistons vs Lakers 2004.....Pistons in 5.

These are intersting to me... Instead of saying "Too many games", I'd say, "Too many crappy & non-interesting games" :) And that goes for both consoles... ;(

What other format has as promising a lineup?

It's very rare that there's over 10 games for any platform that I know i'm going to buy straight away.

If only the pc has as many titles i want coming out over the next year.

(you missed out a whole load of great looking DS titles btw Advance Wars, Zelda 4 Swords, new Secret of Mana title, Kirby - to name but a few)

Very, very well said and good analogy as well.

In my opinion the problem with Sony is that they simply don't innovate, they follow. I don't play games anywhere except for my apartment. Why would I buy a PSP? Simple answer, I wouldn't. I could buy a PS2 for half the cost and play better games that I can see more clearly. Having said that, I'd never buy a Sony product but I digress.

I WOULD buy a DS because it actually innovates and does something new. I'm not buying a handheld version of something I could play two years ago like the PSP. I'd buy a DS because a brand new type of game interaction is possible. It's something new, not stale. The PSP is perpetuating staleness, but what do you expect it's Sony.

Let's give the Sony bashing a bit of a break - they're certainly no worse than Microsoft or the pc games market (which, bar a few notable exceptions, is the king when it comes to 'stale' and unimaginative titles)

The fact is that almost no developers innovate these days (take Valve - they do nothing new, they just do it better) Sony may stick to a well trodden path, but they do do it very well (to miss out on a PS2 or PSP certainly means you'll miss some of the best games around - they might not shock the world with their originality, but they will be very good and great fun to play)

It wasn't my intent to bash Sony....only those people that follow the message of those companies: that bigger, better and badder is the way to go and deviation is equivalent to failure. Being pretty does not mean the game is fun or enjoyable. Enter the Matrix was a great looking game on my HDTV, but was utter garbage when you started to play it......made me sick. It's a damn shame, because you know as well as I do that there are people out there that dismiss the DS as being a gimick and not worthy because it's graphically inferioir to the PSP. And let's be honest, for it to be successful, people have to buy it and a lot of gamers will not for the reasoning above......I think it's the message of companies like Sony that cause that. In the case of the DS, I hardly think that message has stuck because that handheld is already a success.....but to deviate from the proven path does not equate to failure. It's the essence of competition, but let's give all these new consoles a shot. I own a DS and will buy a PSP eventually, but the best is yet to come for both handhelds.

I for one am happy that these two handhelds are going to fight to the bitter end.....it will force both Sony and Nintendo to be constantly watching their back and making changes for the better of gamers.

Competition is great for the video game industry and gamers in general.

Fair enough :)

It'll be interesting when the GBA 2 jumps into the fray too.

btw - apparently, in the uk, the DS sold more systems in launch week than any other console ever.

Not bad eh?

Also, while i'm here, have a look at this:

http://the-magicbox.com/0503/game050316e.shtml

Could be great fun in 4 player.

Do you know the actual figure Warbie? I am too lazy to look it up. :p

Game looks....interesting. I am looking forward to SSB more. But we don't know if that exists so....looks good.

Warbie: Skipped those mostly because they simply do not appeal to me. I only listed those I'm interested at buying. Some day. The only ones that I find worth a full price tag are Metal Gear AC!D, Ridge Racer & Castlevania DS. I have too high standards & too few $$$ ;) You could say I'm cheap :E

It was 87,000 units in the first week Reginald, with 12 DS titles in the top 40 (which is great when you consider the strong and promising titles haven't been released yet)

Also, you might want to give Metal Gear Acid a try before buying Alec. I've seen it being played and tbh it doesn't look that impressive - the review and 6/10 Edge gave it seem justified. (and how can you not want Advance Wars?? shame on you :))

There's one PSP game i'm quite looking forward to - Untold Legends: Brotherhood Of The Blade. It's a 4 player action rpg in a similar vein to Diablo/Dungeon Siege. It's being developed in house, so it should be pretty neat - and co-op rpgs, for lack of a better word, pwn :)

F*ck yeah! WipEout! I love that series! WO fills that "futuristic racing, blow up guys and practice tracks for hours while listening to techno" niche that just isn't filled that often (Extreme G and F-Zero are the only others I know of).

I was dissapointed with all but the first Extreme G game. And the only good F-Zero game has been F-Zero X. And I never liked Wipeout. I hope we get F-Zero X for the DS. Just think what the track generator could be like!

heh - damn right. Wipeout Pure (or whatever it's called) looks very nice.

Who'd have thunk it? :)

The DS has sold like hotcakes all over the world - far more than anyone had hoped. Now all we need are for some of these AAA titles to come out and to help keep up the momentum.

The biggest problem is finding the cash for all the games I want :/

At least we know there's a load of great titles still to come for the DS. There's no guessing game. The DS has such a strong list of games that I'm pleased to be an owner.

They aren't out at the mo. tbh the titles released at launch were pretty good at best.

Give it some time - there's loads of good ones on the way, just a matter of waiting.

Quick edit for you Warbie:

Pac-Pix has had a title change to Pac-Mix.

My m8 has Pac Pic (or Mix)

I'm gonna try and pop round to have a go tomorrow. Drawing mutant Pac don't do what they're told sounds like good fun.

Meh, they've been talking about a track generator since the n64 version.

I WILL BUY THEM ALL!!!! ALL OF THEM YOU HEAR!!!

MUAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHA

er wait... that would be like $2000....
