The bigest noobie question ever...

i bought the game over TG weekend to play in a place I knew had no internet access.

So, is there a file I can modify so I can play offline SP? :thumbs:

the game is great so far. Very intuitive and Im happy, and surprised at the nostalgia felt when I play CS like I did when i was a child.

You must have had Internet Access, otherwise you wouldn't have been able to activate the game...

'Offline play' works once you've activated Half Life 2 and completely disconnected from the Internet, btw.

i got the game activated at an internet cafe...but everytime i click on the HL SC on the Dt or go thru ST/PF/Valve/HL2, it tries to update steam, so when Im behind a FW or just dont have a hotspot it seems I cant play off line.

perhaps Im doing something wrong...

I think so, I only have a dial up at the moment, If i connect steam tries an update, if I cancel said update I cant play offline any more. Additionally if I have been online to do an update it seems I have to restart my PC to force steam into offline mode. If anyone knows how to get round that that would be great.

Not sure it matters that much, I'm getting broadband on wednesday!

For BB connections, it seems that (if you are behind a FW) it will just sit and for a connection to steam. If you disable it, then it asks to go into off line mode.
