Go to play games>lost coast>click on it. When you get to this error message "Error: CanonicalVector: degenerate" Right-click on it and hit "view source". The bird is there now we just have to decode the clue! Yes I am the first person to realize this!!!111! :naughty: :smoking:

Chris Bokitch from Valve was on that thread talking about the error message. He may still be online so I put a reply out saying "Mr. Bokitch when this error message was there and you viewed the source of the page you would get a bird. The same bird was used for the secret "tests" in the pre-loads for HL2. Then this bird dissapeared. Whats up with that? A whole bunch of people at half-life2.net wanna know too. I hope your still there to reply to this." Hopefully something will be said. :angel:

Hey, if you look under the "Packages" section of steam, and look at the silver and gold packages, the little asterix denoting that the game hasn't been released yet isn't next to Lost Coast.

A red herring is like a wild goose chase. The phrase comes from escapees that dropped red herrings so that the sniffer dogs would get distracted.

I don't VALVe would release it without letting anyone know a week or two ahead of time. I may be wrong however. I remeber when DOD:S was added to the coming soon everyone was saying "Next week" "this week" blah blah blah and it's still in the coming soon section. Just gotta wait and see.

Updates never come out on Friday for numerous reasons.

1: What if something badly goes wrong? And fecks up alot of stuff.
2: Increased network activity, there are more people physically on the steam network on the weekend so it puts much more strain on the bandwhidth than a weekday release.

Thats all I can think of at the moment.

1: What about the mini-me's in CS:S with the new T's? They were there for a week.
2: It never hurts to get extra time in and extra money in your paycheck for overtime. Plus Gabe said he can call up the internet provider and say "I need more bandwith". Updates don't have to come out on one day of the week all the time. Havana had the weekly news and the actuall map hours later.

heh. the "raven" was part of all the "tests", adnn there "was" a third test, in case you missed it...it was the php game @ the HL2 game site.

Anyway, the third test was Valve letting us know, for real, that they(as in the staff at valve) were actually the moderators and such here.


Of course, i remember all of this becasue it was my little quotes that i heard around these forums, that i posted, that Chris_D (or should i say Chris_B?) put up on the HL2.php website, as we found his/thier pages a bit early, i think. Or they planned it this way.

Anyway, the bird....that was one of the programmer's signature. you found it whenever some new content was loaded, pretty much, and when valve interacted with the forum, before it was known that valve ran the forum.
