Yeah, it does seem rather odd how they bothered to show that scene. Perhaps an Aftermath appearance is indeed planned - after all, we're escaping the city and a vehicle of some kind is required. I reckon there's a good chance we'll be driving at high speed out of City 17, perhaps trying to survive the shockwave - a little like the Halo 1 ending.

I've played HL2 alot, but I still haven't seen where the Buggy gets "taken away by a dropship"....which level does this happen on? (if you could, please tell me the actual level-name, such as: d2_coast_xx)

I remember somebody saying it was on the "lighthouse level" (d2_coast_10), but I can't see the buggy being taken away...was it on this level?

It feels like I've missed a important thing in HL2, even though I'm a big fan...

When you reach Lighthouse Point (in the "Sand Traps" level), your instructed to "Get your car in the garage".
After that, you got to fight off a wave of Combine Dropships, and 1 Gunship.

Then 1 of them tells you to follow and leads you over to the Lighthouse and down it, then you need to watch your step. As you walk, you can hear the sound of a Dropship.

Look towards the ocean and wait, you'll see your Buggy being taken away by a Dropship.
