Do you think the Half Life series will ever end? What would you like to see the ending as? I think Barney buying a beer for Gordon would mark the ending of the series.

that would be a nice ending.

*bartender turns round- its the Gman standing beside nihilanth the waitress*

"you want friesssss with that beer, mr freeman?"

I think the HL series should end with Gordon making a choice that has an impact on the world.

The "Barney Beer" scenario would make a good secret ending after closing credits.

I can see them leaving it open. I hope valve never do that to us though!

Episode 12? Those combine sons of bitches just dont give up do they?

Gordon with SMG in hand, Alyx in the other, standing on a bunch of Combine bodies as the camera zooms out. Cue credits.

One of the things I've always liked about the HL games is that I'm never sure how they're going to end (except of course now we've come to expect cliffhangers and more questions).
I remember playing through the first and feeling this intensely claustrophobic futility.

Ok, so I carve my way through hordes of beasties and soldiers, but then what? If I get to the surface, will the world really be able to help? Will we really be safe? Will it even be ever possible for me to get to the surface?

Towards the end of HL2 I just felt like I was fighting because there was nothing else I could do - I wasn't sure what the end result would be, and I wasn't convinced it would be the instant destruction of the Combine's grip on Earth, but what else was there to do?

The end of Ep1 was just a feeling that, even though we'd escaped the explosion, there was no way this was over and no way of telling what was to come next.

The "buying a beer" scene would be great as an extra feature, but it would go against what valve normally did when making the HL series if it was the true ending to the HL plot.

There could be a twist. Before you get the beer, the G-Man materializes into the area and takes the beer that Barney just bought you and fades out again, leading to a new game in which you play as a Vortigaunt that is sent to retrieve that beer from The G-Man.

The ending will be Gman telling Gordon that by some twist of events in the past, Adrain Shepherd is his father (Gordon's). :D

No whey, the ending will be... ummm... the Talent Show at the end, which is won by the person who is perceived as nerdy throughout the entire series because he reveals his ub3rl33t powas.

What? I saw it in a movie.

I think Operational is right, the one True Freeman getting killed for real would be a good ending to the saga - and by then Valve can just live off Steam profits!

That idea wins....Now let's make that Vortigaunt a chumtoad...No, no. That won't do.

I think the ending of will be that Aston kutcher jumps out and yells: You got punke'd

I think it should end with Freeman making an actual choice besides "Do I want to destroy ***** or do I want to just sit in this city for the rest of my life?"

The series ends with Gordon, Barney and Gman in a gay bar D:

Trust me, I know.

Some other superior alien force will come to Earth and destroy everything. Including combine and gordon. G Man will just be the only person on Earth, and he'll say, "well this sucks."

I quite simply believe The G-man doesn’t exist,
At the very end of our marvels Half-Life adventure Gordon will wake up on a train that has just arrived at the black mesa complex to the sound of the security guard (aka Barney) saying “Rise and shine Mr.Freeman”
Taken from a post I got in shit for D:

I'd like to see Gordon take over the G-man's job at the end. Find out the G-man's been protecting humanity all this time, and since that was always Gordon's big dream, he'd either take over the position or work alongside him, rather than as a pawn.

Or G-man has been traing a replacement :O

At the end Barney and Gordon are standing next to a coke machine. Barney looks at Gordon and says "Gordon, I appear to be short on beers, will a coke do?"

napoleon dynamite.

ok ok so hows about this for an ending. lets face it, no good story is reaaaaallly good without a betrayal of some kind from the character you least expect these days. so how about this. the vortigaunts suddenly turn out to all be under combine control (maybe using similar devices to the nihilanths psychic/technological control) kick a shitload of peoples asses, and earth falls for real. G-man pops into Gordons head, and one of two things happens.

1. "whats thissss, mister freeman? you've failed. dont worry mr Freeman, your... time.. will come again."
*flash* you see gman standing in front of a board of directors of some kind.
Gman: "the earth mission wasss.. a complete success."
mysterious shadey character: "well done.. *slow clap* freeze that Freeman guy and any other people we found, we may need them another time."
*gordon looks about, he's in an open stasis tank. alyx, possibly shepherd and a buttload of other assorted people and races are all frozen in other ones next to him, going on for miles*
Gman: *turns around and sees you* ah, mister freeman. you aren't meant to be awake to see this. this may be the last time we speak. I would be glad to call you a... friend.. but thissss isn't really the time, iss it? my employersss are pleased with your progress. you are somewhat alike to a radioactive material, in that your usefulness, or half life, has a long time on it. you still have plenty of usefulnesssss left, mr freeman. I knew you would be a valuable asset way back when I saw you in black mesa years ago. those were good..times. but times change mister freeman, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. I'm sure this may be unpleasant for you now, but in the long term.. it will make sense to you in.. *gman turns to the shadey figures, one of them nods. Gman presses the button on your stasis pod and you are sealed in*
..time, dr freeman. *he adjusts his tie*

2.Gman: you failed, doctor freeman? what a loser. luckily I got a NEW golden boy! HAH! *puts arm around shepherd*
*samon jumps in*
samon: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! *pours beans over head*
*Gman throws samon into stasis tank*

Or G-man has been traing a replacement :O

Or, that everything G-man has (and his superiors have) made ol' Gordie do is evil in its intent and purpose as well as eventual outcome.

Good guy finds out he's fighting the bad fight. Works for me. Much, much better than the old theatrical hero dies ending.
