In this thread post what you know about the gman.For expample
-The gman is first seen in half-life 1
-His name is not revealed
-We do not know what his intentions are
-Eli Vance refers to him as "our mutual friend"
-Odessa Cubbage is seen talking to him in Half Life 2
The goal of this thread is to sort of "calculate" the information and to get the result: The identity of this controversial character
 
He probably have a military training (he reactivates the nuke in OpFor).
 
It's all been discussed before really and we don't have any idea who/what he is yet :P
 
hm, maybe to get further in revealing the G-man we need to take an diff approach, like this maybe.
tho i dont see how we can get anywhere if only facts are to be posted here

Half-Life 1,second sighting - you can hear his words behind the glass
He says about pushing the mass spectrometer to 105% or something.
 
Wasnt that the black mesa scientist, under the administrator (breen, who was also the admin of BM at the time)order to get up to 110% for the clearest readings?

Anyway, heres some data on the nameless g-man:
-Works for an unknown Third party.
-always appears in a place where he cant be interacted with without cheating/glitching.
-has been sen speeking with odessa cubbage, and has spoken to eli vance.
-has recruited Gordon Freeman and Cpl. Adrian Shephard for unknown purposes, and saved Alyx's life from the destruction of BM.
-Can appear anywhere and seems to be capable of disappearing in an instant, and knows when your watching, even through a camera.
 
But there is still the lingering matter of witnesses.
I admit I have a fascination with those who adapt and survive against all odds?they rather remind me of myself.
If for no other reason, I have argued to preserve you for a time.

its not sure adrian is still alive, saying adrian is in stasis for further use when Gordon fails is a theory.
 
Thanks to you guys,i have came up with a theory that gman is a illusion for the ones who are intendet to see him .That would explain his dissapearing act
 
I stated something about how hes an artificial construct, just a vision, at first in black mesa as a recruiter, and later as an observer, to make sure freeman completes the gmans employers goals.

Gman cant overthrow his employers, but can simply make independant decisions that wont interfere with their overall goal. Thats why he was able to keep adrian, just in case...

Although i hope adrian comes back in ep3 or the speculated hl3, i wanna see how badass he looks now (and what his face looks like).

Well, theres my 2 cents, pay me a dollar to continue service :^P
 
more data:
-will offer gordons "contract" to whoever will further his plan, which i currently believe is to keep each dimension seperate, no matter what it makes gordon do.
 
WRONG, he will offer Gordons service contract to the highest bidder.

G-man still owns Gordons after he has sold Gordons services,
and we dont know if he only sells the services to thoose who take his plans further.
 
Would you pay someone to demolish a bridge your driving over? where gordon would be the payment and the bridge is your plan.
 
Yes, otherwise why choose gordon over shephard (who i think went through worse)?, why black mesa? (well they did have xen portals), why earth?, why our dimension at all?
 
Adrian got more help from G-man then Gordon did, and adrian going through worse then Gordon i cant say, to long since i played the first HL games.

but either way, that G-man and his employers got a plan, is a theory, this topic is for facts, thats why i posted against u in the first place
 
Actually you didnt, you started spouting something about witnesses which was completely incorrect. I played HL1 and Op4 yesterday, gordon doesnt recieve any help (at least i think)., gman helps shephard in the radioactive waste room, but then later stops adrian from escaping via Osprey heliplane. In my experience, Op4 was much harder than the original Half-Life. The only reason i think valve hasnt readded Adrian in HL2 is because hes a creation of gearbox and probably still owned by them, but storywise, theres no need for him yet because gordon hasnt died yet. And otherwise theres no way to make them go against their natural instincts and will, in other words the gmans hidden agenda currently focuses on stopping or erradicating the combine. It will remain so because theres nothing else that gordon or adrian would do because of their natural state. It is possible that gmans controllers are nihilanthian, though i severely doubt that.

this is not incorrect, play HL2 and the Ep?s again.
 
in episode one gman looses control over gordon due to the vorts, in ep2 the gman begins regaining control. Also, you quoted yourself, contridicting yourself as well...

He is definitely not human

He only seems to have constant contact with Gordon and Adrian. Exact opposites of each other at first glance, ironically

He had a deal to guarantee Alyx's safety durijng the BM incident

Wait...he may have made a deal with eli to save alyx's life,but the catch was something that isnt good..That is why maby he said (innacurate quote)
"When he saved her it was for his own damn reasons"

ok i can see if this is a joke but let me put it to you logically. At the end of HL1, there is the option: death or portal. If Gman is Gordon then why give him the death option since the Gman would cease to exsist. Also Valve has denied this constantly
 
what if in the end of Ep:3, gordon dies, and the G-man decides it's time for Adrian to come out of stasis?

It'd be a fairly risky twist for valve though...

because the canon ending is that he chose portal, and thus gman continues to exist

so therefore gman = gordon
 
of course not, because you accept that gman is gordon, you just don't want to admit it
