Just a lil question.. I might be a lil behind everyone else on this, but why is he called 'G-Man'? Or does anyone really know?

(as in possibly a major spoiler that G-man is Gordon gone back in time. But nobody knows)

Therefore, that's not true.
The resemblance between them is striking, particularly the eyes. I think valve put this in to show that you 'have something in common' with the gman, making him seem 'closer' to you somehow.
If the Gman is Gordon, why give him the opportunity to die at the end? That would be killing himself. It goes like this:
*Gman offers gordon 'a battle he cannot win'![]()
*Gordon Accepts
*Gordon dies :x
*The gman ceases to exist (because if gordon dies he can never become the gman) :flame:
*Gordon survives (because Gman doesn't kill him) :smoking:
*Gordon becomes Gman![]()
*Gordon dies :x
*Gman goes poof again :flame:
*Gordon Survives again :smoking:
*etc. etc.![]()
The Result of This: The Gman gets fed up, Gordon gets the mother of all headaches, the fabric of the space-time continuum breaks down, resulting in the destruction of the Universe, and Gabe Newells head explodes.
I think I speak for all of us when I say: Great Scott!!

Probably a bit too far fetched but we'll just have to see.
jabberwock95 said:So the Gman is trying to prevent gordon from becoming him, effectively wiping himself out of history? I think therapy would be a better option...
But if someone went back in time and made changes that erased them, then in the new timeline they don't exist, so they never made any changes, so they do exist, but they don't.
Result: A paradox is created, the Universe gets stuck in some sort of cosmic program loop, God hits the End Task button and we all cease to exist.
So you see, messing with time is very irresponsible. The gman should know better.
AJ Rimmer said:Maybe, G-man goes back in time to stop himself from doing something gordon is destined to do, but in doing so he accidentally does the thing he was trying to stop himself (gordon) to do, so he goes forwards in time to stop himself from going back in time to stop himself from stopping gordon to do the thing he was actually responsible for.
But- When G-man goes forward in time up to the point where he was going back in time to stop himself (gordon) to do whatever it was he was going to do, he ran into himself, and told him not to go back in time to stop gordon from doing what he was trying to stop him from doing because he knew he was going to do it himself by accident, it turns out, that by going forward in time to stop his other self from doing this, he inadvertadely set a chain reaction in motion, which after a few minutes, would cause a version of himself from two years into his alter ego's future to appear and do the thing they were both trying to prevent themselves from doing by going back in time!

Rhalle said:I just saw the hi-res, close-up, g-man video, the one that ends with "...smell the ashes." The way his voice stutters through one or two of the words is pretty clearly supposed to suggest that he is robotic, or part robot.
My geeky observation:
Since Valve hired those psychologists to do the facial expressions; I wonder if they did their homework on pupils (eye pupils.) ? The g-man has pinpoint pupils through that whole video, and they dont change size (even in the dark tunnel that both he and Gordon are in.) It looks pretty freaky.
Pupils naturally dilate when someone looks at something that they like-- in fact, models in advertisements take eyedrops that dilate their pupils to trick people into thinking that the models like them, so whoever is looking at the ad will be more likely to buy whatever they are selling. Mabye the g-man doesn't like Gordon. Maybe I'm thinking too hard about this.....
or wasn't there some sci-fi movie where one of the tests to see if someone was a robot was whether their eyes dilated?-- Was that Terminator, maybe? I dunno. Ill stop typing now, because I'm rambling. Ima look at the alyx video and see if her eyes dilate 0.o
