WE ARE...because without our support for buying the game he couldn't be employed, because valve wouldn't have any money.

No joke though, I honestly believe the G-mans employer is valve. Because in the end it became clear to me that gordon had the ability to travel outside of the half-life dimension, and the g-man is employed by the create of that dimension (ie valve). What a fantastic end though. Best ending in a game ever.

Yes best ending ever (all Half-lifes) but many players (not HL fans) dont like these endings ... :flame: WHY ?

Not many people like vague, complicated endings, the masses always prefer it simple and familiar i think.
I personally think having an ending making clear that alien killing, traveling to alien worlds, and surviving against all odds, is one mysterious man's idea of a job interview, is awesome (this is hl1 naturally).
 
ill tell you why it isnt the best ending ever, by that point in the game yu were like, man this is easy and im just owning everything when are they going to throw a REAL challenge at me. Well never, and yay for vague half assed endings w00t, lets bring no closure to a story like Halo2 which so far brings my point. 2 of the best games had the worst endings ever.
 
I had to get some paper to write down what G-man said,but still diden't come up with a clue of what he means.

Try playing the game on hard :P (Although it's still doable then for the experienced half-lifer)

In which ending? Hl1 or 2? I think it's pretty clear what he means, but you can't get much concrete info out of it, because you don't (and can't) have all the facts.
 
HL2 of course......
Thats what I'm trying to do,use this part of the puzzle and trying to get a idea of the other puzzle.
I toally understood the HL1 ending.
 
I don't think even valve know who Gman is employed by, I think they are making it up as they go along. :)
 
On a more serious note...

Did anyone read the Half Life timeline? In it, the explanation was that the G-Man was the human representative of an allegiance of worlds/dimensions gathered against the Combine. I like that for a couple of reasons, first because it makes as much sense as any other theory and second, it's such fertile ground for amazing sequels. I want to see Gordon (and his other-worldly equivalents perhaps) make an assault on the Combine headquarters.
 
Pointless Things, triggered by things seen in this thread:

God does not exist, as advertised by the presence of the Babel Fish (HHG2thaG).

The Gman is Gary Coleman.

Gordon is Gary's son, as is Barney and Adrian.

Black Mesa East is undoubtedly a flying airship in disguise. It will activate the second Gordon journeys deep into the bowels of BME to find the engine so they can avoid missiles sent by the Combine from a self-destructing Base (FFVIII fans will know what I'm talking about)

You realise that was ONE GUY'S interpretation of it? It seems to have been accepted as the gospel honest-to-God truth.
There's a fair chance the G-Man's not even human.

Personally I'm not sure he works for his... employers anymore. No mention of them in this game; HE decides who Gordon works for.
