The Gaurdian,the extract,and Alyx

heres my question
how would the antlion gaurdian retrieve the exract since the vorts put it inside Alyx?
i.e.-Freeman dies fighting the gaurdian as does Alyx,well the vortigaunt wouldn't retrieve the extract from Alyx to help the gaurdian,so how would it get the precious extract back?

The guardian can't retreive the extract -- you have to kill it.

The game stops when you die, don't even try thinking about what would happen to the world if Gordon died.
