the GTA IV thread

There are hidden packages but they're not the same as in previous GTA games. They blend in with the environment I believe.

So there probably isnt any immediate rewards for getting hidden package(s), like in GTAIII where your base would have more weapons to grab with the more packages your found.

Rampages would be a bit dumb with the new combat system, if you ask me. It's not meant to be about mindless running and gunning anymore (although the option is there). There are assassination missions though, where you're texted a picture of the target and left to find and kill them... not sure how free this is though, or how many there are.

Hidden packages are in, but they're different. Like someone said they're more in keeping with the environment and are meant to blend in a lot better. One review said that the give away was that they made a sound when you were nearby, like the orbs in Crackdown, but wouldn't say what. It also said they were more "satisfying" to collect... no idea what they mean by that. :O

Nah, they'll probably give you something. The PS3 doesn't have achievements after all.
 
I Google'd 'GTA 4 rampage', and one of the links subtly said in the description of it that with the new Police AI, it wouldn't be possible for rampages. I didn't bother to click the link to check further, but I do remember it was a GameTrailers link.

Also, that .gif looks insane. If that is what happens all the time in GTA 4, I will ejaculate every time I hit a car and fly, which will be at least 3400 times a day.
 
Oh, by the way, question for Amish: Is there a replay option to view the last 30 seconds or whatever like in previous GTAs? Even if you can't save them (which would be awesome), I really liked being able to go back and show people whatever crazy shit I just pulled before it's lost forever.

I love euphoria, that video posted a page or two back was awesome.

Love how he flies through the air in that gif, how he covers his head with his arms while he falls. Amazing. Euphoria should become a standard in all games from now on.

GTAgaming.com also has a timer, which I frequently visit so I see it often.

Which has theirs at 2 days 10 hours.
 
12 days, 5 weeks, 27 millenia and 2 minutes.
 
Due to a rippling aftershock of the Stern Ascension causing a fluctuation in time, it's now almost an entire year until GTA IV comes out.

So how long till GTA comes out. Well, its saturday, which goes by really really fast, so that doesn't count as a day. Then we move to Sunday, which is usually chalk full of activity and goes by fast, so that doesn't count as a day either. Then we move to monday, where there is a midnight madness sale at most of the stores. So basically GTA is out right now.
