So, HL2 his bassed almost complety around overthrowning the current opressores or the overwatch. But who is Breen answering to. Who are the combine? Are they the aliens? Are they humans working for the aliens? And if so, then where are all the aliens at? It took them 7 hours to conquer earth then they are no where to be seen? Is city 17 just one of many concentration camps and the aliens have built there own cities that we never see? Did I miss something or are there an emmense amount of questions that are never answered in this game?

3) You only see the Combine alien twice: during the initial messed up teleportation and at the end - it's the bug thing on the screen that Breen is talking to - it's known as the Combine Advisor

4) City 17 is one of many other cities that serve essentially as concentration camps for what's left of humanity

5) You didn't miss anything at all - the Half-Life series is based on questions that are never fully answered and allow you to theorize and come up with your own answers. That's part of the fun

How are the combine aliens.....i read somewhere that its just martial law and they are humans.....makes more sense

Alright...let me see if I can clear this up.

The Combine are in fact aliens - the "Combine Advisor" that Breen is seen talking to is what the actual Combine look like

The Combine Overwatch that you're fighting (Metrocops, Soldiers, Elites) are humans who are working for the aliens.

Overwatch guys are trans-humans. Humans with... enhancements. I don't think the Metrocops are advanced as the Soldiers, though. Likewise the Soldiers to the Elites.

I got the impression that the term "Combine" came from the fact that the Combine soldiers were humans with alien and/or mechanical components. They were "combined" so to speak. It might explain the humanoids who were lurching around inside the Citadel with what looked like cybernetic implants (one was in one of those transport pods), why people were being "disappeared" (the woman in the trainstation was looking for her missing husband), and why the aliens bothered keeping any humans around at all.

at the end when your in that rail thingy going throught the prision to Dr.Breen you see these human looking things that are really skinny. my theory is this. Those prisions with all the citizins locked in them is some sort of trasnfomation divice. it turns all of the citizins into hard fighting combine overwatch. thoughts? coments? flames?

The skinny things are Stalkers, heavily altered human slave workers with most of their organs removed (the Combine run them on a form of saline solution).
