The problem with difficulty

Well, maybe I'm just a masochistic gamer, but I thought FarCry's difficulty was passable. So a REALLY HARD Half-Life 2 wouldn't necessarily bother me, but a lack of a quicksave would!

far cry was easy but on the matter of quick save in hl2, i can say that it is in their as they had me quicksave before a few areas because they knew i was going to die a couple times... lol

Is there no autosave system?

I tried playing far cry on "realistic" and I pissed in me pants.

Lazy weapon is dreadful in that mode - takes an hour to walk from point A to B with a rocket launcher. More over the weapon sway of the sniper makes it impossible to kill the mercs as they're just too fast and over-powered.

did they or are they ever going to patch far cry to change the save game system to appease all the complaints? cuz i may not get it if they don't.

i posted this in another thread, might be useful for some of you

there is a quick save feature in far cry

just type \save_game 1 into the console (where 1 = your save game name)

to load just use the checkpoint menu or type \load_game 1 (again 1 = the name of your save)

after you save the first time it's easy to keep quicksaving by just hitting [`] [up] [enter] too.

there's a way you can bind these commands to a key but you'll have to search around to figure out how to do that.

on topic though, does anyone think that games are actually getting way easier these days? remember freakin contra (without the extra lives cheat)? i find myself going back to old games sometimes and find myself wondering how in the hell i used to be good at this. i bet the old us (with our old limited lives/continues ways) would stare the new us (with our quick saves and easy settings) in the eye and flat out call us pussies.

:x Everything is sluggish in FarCry, and it actually takes time and thinking just to get past to the next part.
Time, yes
Thinking, no

that's what's good about far cry though.

yes you can just run in without thinking and just start blasting away, but for the casual gamer that wants to think things through and find alternate routes there are options available for them too.
