Thread About Phobias?

I lol'd at the pickle girl. D:

I'm kinda afraid of high places and spiders.

Dead bugs gross me out... but I wouldn't call it a phobia. Just an irrational grossness.

Other than that, nothing.

I'm scared that my computer will stop working.

Whenever I have a high fever, stuff seems to randomly "zoom in and out" and it looks trippy as hell. I panic whenever that happens, but I dunno what it's called.

well the effect is called vertigo... but that term is usually used when talking about very high heights...

She had a bad experience with a boyfriend, the pickle reminds her of him

"hi id like a plain cheeseburger! thanks!"

*bites into cheeseburger*

"ew what is this... OMG A PICKLE AHHHHHHHHH"

i can understand extreme phobias like a fear of dogs or animals...

but pickles?? its an inanimate object for christ sake... ITS JUST SITTING THERE...

I'm deathly, deathly afraid of

- anything that lacks an internal skeleton (i.e. spiders, crabs, insects, ESPECIALLY centipedes/millipedes/silverfish)
- the image of anything from the ocean that isn't a common fish, a sponge/anemone/coral, a dolphin, or a shark [edit: stingrays... *shudders* they're so empty...]
- silence

The insect one is, for the most part, understandable. But I freak out whenever there's, say, a moth flying around my head, or a small spider behind a chair.

I get really unsettled by the aquatic images... and sometimes I feel like the creatures are going to leap out of the pages.

Silence makes me feel really alone, and very, very paranoid. Although... it's not so much silence as it is a lack of connections to the outside world. If I'm lying in bed, and it's completely silent, playing a CD won't make me feel better. It absolutely HAS to be a radio station that I'm listening to. And if I'm on the computer, and nobody's around, I'll be very unsettled unless I'm doing something on the internet.

I'm weird...

[edit] Phobias are, by definition, irrational fears. You laugh, but the pickle girl is scared out of her mind.

Well not phobias but here goes: high places, crowded areas, bugs of any kind.

Pickle phobia:|

Phobia is a mental condition, the bodies self defense mechanism gone crazy.

It gets worse if it's played on, gets to the stage of making the body act like it's in severe danger, fight or flight.

They usually do not understand the reasoning of the fear.

I don't have any phobias, i only avoid danger dependant upon it's actual threat value.

"pickles are destroying my life" could be one of the greatest things ive ever heard

wtf kind of anii do you see?

It's not a phobia, but do you know the feeling of swimming in sea and realizing you're floating on many meters of water, which is a scary thought, like a fear of heights but then in the water? You don't? Guess I'm weird like that :o

Whats wrong with floating on alot of water? Is it the distance from the actual ground that scares you? I guess I can understand that if I imagine looking down a huge underwater canyon and think about falling into it...

I got the water thing... or just going into deep or murky water in general. I can't bear the thought of falling off of a large boat into the water. Weird thing is I love to go swimming. :|

I'm gonna go watch the pickle thing.

I'm pretty scared of spiders.
I'm terrified of swimming in the ocean, but I love swimming in pools and lakes. Probably something to do with seeing Jaws when I was like 6.

Thunderstorms were pretty scary too for awhile. I think I got over it by time I was 11 or so.

I can honestly say that I am scared by the internet.

Clowns.

Seriously, who likes clowns? All the little kids I know are scared of them or find them unfunny, they don't have a place in modern society.

Exactly they aren't funny, much more scary.

I have an irrational fear of octopus/squid and large cuttlefish :( They just look like aliens, with their arms and suckers and razor sharp beak and crazy colours. *shivers* hatehatehate.

You'd hate to be that diver.

Even more so like an alien there......it's being a facehugger.

DEAR GOD! ARGH, thats the footage i saw on tv as a child which started my fear! You found the bloody thing, AHHHHH, completely disgusting and horrible. I'm all edgy now, i had to watch it in the very corner of my screen dragging it down every second :(

im scared of homeless people who sing the national athem while hopping on one foot and rubbing their head and belly in opposite directions while at the same time spinning in circles......i HATE that

I have a friend who absolutely can't stay being in museums. She hates them.

I also knew a girl who was scared of dressing gowns. Only because once there was a spider in the pocket of one and she didn't find out until she put her hand in it. But now she can't stand any dressing gown near her.

Feath's got a phobia of women. :D And saying yes to them, he always always says no.

i really want to tie these people up in a room full of their fobias for like 5 hours, then they will notice its not dangerous...
