Holy crap but this sounds awesome!!!
The first game I try...is a Warioware title. It consists of dozens of manic five-second mini games in a row. They’re geared to the Japanese gaming sensibility, which has a zany, cartoonish, game-show bent. In one hot minute, I use the controller to swat a fly, do squat-thrusts as a weight lifter, turn a key in a lock, catch a fish, drive a car, sauté some vegetables, balance a broom on my outstretched hand, color in a circle and fence with a foil. And yes, dance the hula.
or this:
After Warioware, we play scenes from the upcoming Legend of Zelda title, Twilight Princess, a moody, dark (by Nintendo’s Disneyesque standards) fantasy adventure. Now I’m... sword fighting with the controller, then aiming a bow and arrow, then using it as a fishing rod, reeling in a stubborn virtual fish. The third game, and probably the most fun, is also the simplest: tennis. The controller becomes a racket, and I’m smacking forehands and stroking backhands. The sensors are fine enough that you can scoop under the ball to lob it, or slice it for spin. At the end, I don’t so much put the controller down as have it pried from my hands.
This machine really might not be next-gen, but new-gen! I can't wait!!!

Provided the TIME isn't hyping that actually sounds impressive.

sounds awesome, but if nintendo actually respected gamers [like it apparently does] why the heck was time one of the first to have a [decent] hands on ?

Woot I was wondering how sensitive the controller would be and what you could do with this thing...sounds like the answer to that is whatever the hell you can think of. :D

When you play with an old-style controller, you look like a loser, a blank-eyed joystick fondler.

As opposed to swinging your controller around like a retard with an imaginary tennis racket?

Zelda sounds cool, sword fighting is probably the best application for the Revolution controller (there is no way in hell I am calling it by its "real" name :x ). The other two sound pretty boring, actually. Tennis is just repetition and Warioware sound like gimmicky crap like Eye-toy, fun for about an hour. I was hoping he got to play Red Steel, which sounds like the most promising Rev game.

All videogames are just mindless, retarded repetition. Context is what determines how fun something is.

Moving around a joystick and pulling triggers to a tech demo doesn't sound all that fun. But Halo isn't much removed from that.

Heehee, the innuendo in the title just struck me

"a hands-on experience with the Wii!"

prolly because they asked nicly, i could see alot of company's demanding hands on or making fun of the name if they didnt

yeah, i understand it's the time mag, but give it to some gamers, or at least people [sites; like gamespy] who pretend to be. D:

Sounds like it will be awesome to play games with the controller.

And get over the name already... It's Wii.

I really wanna play that Ubisoft(iirc) revolution game, the one with the pistol and the katana, that sounds even more awsome imo :D

This is just another move by Nintendo to get the Wii out there to people who wouldn't normally see it and get them excited. All demographics read Time, unlike game publications which are just read by gamers. And they just gave Time the first exclusive, I'm sure everyone else will be seeing this stuff this week.

And its amazing how fast I've gotten used to that name.

yeah, curse those 'casual' gamers and/or people !

i'm fine with wii too, the double i is actually quite cool.

Guess what news I heard today? XD

A Wii exclusive Star Wars game has been announced. XD Lightsabre swinging ahoy! XD I'll just try and find the news site I got it from and I'll post a link for y'all.

Every day I'm getting more and more excited about this damn system. I don't care about visuals anymore, Nintendo is striking gold in my heart with this originality.
