Gotta love gamershell!

I mean, personally I am pro-fileplanet, because they just have such an awesome lot of stuff on their system, and I do understand why they have the queue system, but gamershell offer a lot more user-friendliness for most popular downloads. No login, no queue, no hassle, and the speeds are actually great too!

Gamershell is one of the few sites on the web that offer such a quality product that I feel that I have to click on their ads just to be nice. I make it a rule to click once per download. Not sure if they actually count clicks anymore (many do not because the click-ratio is so extremely low), but I do it anyway.

Okay, downloaded the demo. Having several problems at the moment. I get a lot of lagging, and I have no clue why. I put everything on low and it appears to have gone. And I can't strafe? I can't play the demo without strafe!!

Believe it or not but you can't strafe in the demo. Check the other thread about the demo for reference.

This will help you out:

Laggy for no reason, and not even a small explanation on what button to press? Not even a splash screen?

Seriously, demo's from 1998 had control key splash screens.
 
Sounds like garbage. I just cancelled my download.

There is strafe. DEMO is the shit. Ill be getting this game. Oh and they do explain the controls.

Btw does anyone know where the screenshots get saved?
 
Eh, besides the decent graphics, this game has nothing riding for it at all. Saving my money for better investments.
 
Thanks for the reviews guys, saved me the trouble of downloading demo/buying game.
 
Cons:
1. Short (the demo that is).
2. Awkward controls. (no problem w/strafe for me though)
3. Stupid non-rewarding gameplay.
4. Style of game = ugly.
5. Hopelessly choppy with even moderate videosettings.

Pros:
1. Locational damage including shooting guns out of hands.
2. Timeshifting is fun.
3. Timeshifting + locational damage is even more fun.


All in all I was not suprised. This game plays like the other fps console-to-pc games I have played (project snowblind & area 51) which means unsatisfactory gameplay with awkward controls and sub-par graphics. Throw in a couple of frustrating gameplay issues (like enemies lobbing rockets at you from faaar away that you really can't kill because none of your weapons are accurate enough) and you have a definite must-avoid game.

I couldnt care less!!! you could give me a game where you stack poop for all i care any game looks and plays awsome on my 32" screen.:)

Oh, I totally agree. I just don't want to pay 50 bucks to stack poop on my expensive hardware. Not that I don't want to stack poop, I just really really really don't want to pay for it :dozey:.
 
This game runs like crap, and I am NOT going to settle for meduim-low settings. So eff this.
 
Why is everyone having so many problems running this? It runs great on my X800 XT at 1280x1024 (my native screen resolution). Stuff is turned up except for AA, which I can live without.

Personally, it was ok, but pretty oldschool, and not so much in a good way. I think it could be a good game, but it isn;t going to be a good game.

Er...personally I wouldn't be satisfied if an average looking game like that has such bad programming that high end cards like X800 XT or 7800 GTX can't run the game with all the bells and whistles.

No, I'm pretty sure he's saying that it has the potential to be good, but they've squandered that potential, thus it will be crap.

the game runs great on my X300 and 512 MB RAM... even at 1024 * 768! strange...

Pariah wasnt mediocre Pariah was probably the worst game out EVER.

This looks fun and cool. It might be a mistake but ill get it.
 
Oh yes, Pariah was certainly one of the worst games I've ever played. I can fault it on so many levels. I hope not to do the same with this.

i played about 5 minutes of it and got bored, gameplay just feels the same...

its decent but its JAFPS (just another FPS)

may be good on the consoles, for 1 thing, the game is totally CONSOLIZED like other releases. like a cheap port from the xbox to the pc
 
Apart from it running pretty shitty I didn't find it that horrible, pretty fun actually those 5 minutes that the demo offered. I'll wait and see how the full game turns out to be though.

Btw, you can strafe in the demo. :)
 
Didn't look that good from initial impressions when it was first announced anyways.
