trying to find a movie!

anyone who knows the name of a good movie i saw many years ago, its under the second world war and its all about a small boy that is looking for his parents. A scene i remember very good is somewhere near the end when the boy is at some air base and then there is a Spitfire flying over him and he says something like, hurray... hurray!

Christian Bale played "Laurie" in little woman, is it just me, or is Laurie a girls name? I've never seen Little Woman so I don't know if he played a girl or not.
