Sorry if this is old news, but I just saw a HL2 tv ad on channel 5.

It was just an orange lambda, replaced by a picture of the HL2 box and the words 'Half Life 2, Coming November 16th'. Seems like pretty good news to me.

Probably has to do with what timezone you have set in your user control panel.

Timezone is GMT, auto-detect daylight savings, and the post time shows up about 1 hour 10 minutes fast. Weird.

And C-Span? He was watching the UK Channel 5, and judging by what it says for your Location i don't think you're in the UK.

Yeh, but so far it's been the Beatles, Madonna, Queen and the Rolling Stones... and there was the surreal performance of Sgt. Pepper by the Polyphonic Spree, went to see them live not too long ago 'cause one of my mates is a big fan. And T3 was a bit crap.

on topic: i like the concept of a simple tv ad. although gameplay footage would win anyone over.

The Polyphonic Spree do kinda look like a cult. It's scarier when you have otherwise ordinary people in the crowd wearing robes.

Anyways, although a nice simple Lambda logo ad is fairly cool, it's nowhere near as effective as something like the Halo 2 ad. I saw that in the cinema last night, and it's fairly goddamn awesome.

Yes! I finally posted some NEW news! That is incredibly difficult on this forum!

But I can tell you a bit more about it. The lambda logo pulses in and out with a 'heartbeat' sound in the backgroud. Thats about it.

Leaving it a little late though valve? Two days before the release? Oh well. Must get back to Terminator 3.

i've seen the Advert, it's good in my opinion and it was a great time to put it on between terminator 3 (appeals to the target audience) nice one valve, i bet that ad space cost a pretty penny (if it was on a decent channel anyway)
