I'm sure some of you already know about this, but...

https://account.gametap.com/storefront/download/termsOfService.do

I for one, knew that Gametap EXISTED, but I just found out that their 2 week trial lets you play any game you like, unrestricted, as many games as you like.

Think I might give this a shot. Good opportunity to try out all those games that flew over my head the past few years.

I'm not trying to pimp the site, just giving you guys a heads up :)

Oh, and if a mod dissagrees, please, PM me before you lock this. I hate having my threads locked without an explanation.

Yeah, I've got heard about this. Thought about joining up, too, but they want a CC#. :|

Nah, no thanks.

When I did this they didn't have very many recent games. And no violence either, I don't think there was a single FPS on the list. It was mostly nostalgia games. Maybe it's changed, I don't know.

Hmm.

Doesn't seem to be too much violent games.

They've got the Rainbow Six series and a few Splinter Cells.

They've also got the PoP series.

Lots of platformers and adventure games :)

It's worth doing because there are some cool games in there. It seems they added some games since I did it too, I don't remember seeing Rainbow Six or PoP. It kind of seemed like they were avoiding violence, but I guess if they have PoP:WW now that's not the case.

I saw a few commercials for Gametap on TV...
It looked a little intriguing... Meh, I'll stick to Blockbuster and the interweb.

Sounds good to me--I have been really curious about the service for a while now....

So does NetFlix, but they won't charge it until your free trial officially ends and you don't send an email saying, "I quit." Its not a bad thing--rental car companies do the same, even if insurance is paying for the rental. It keeps you honest...

wow they have some decent shooters

Yup, you can get many of them, but certainly some of them are hard to find...I think. And I have a feeling that this is aimed at people who might not know about or who lack the ability to get something like emulation going.

wow this is one of my all time fave games:

Why? That's like saying you can't bring yourself to play Ms. Pac-Man now! Lunacy! If its the graphics, then that is absurd--these games are timeless because the challenge they offer will never grow old and graphics be damned! Take Tetris, for instance: its one of the most amazingly fun and addictive games ever made and you could play it on a TRS-80 for goodness' sake! I have all of the classic arcade collections for my PS2 and quite honestly, I would be happy never getting a new game for the rest of my life because these games will never become obsolete or less fun IMO.

ya but unlike most of you, I played these games when they first came out ..20 years ago. I was more impressed by the technology back then but now it doesnt compare to modern games ..now it'd be a nostalgia thing, nothing more. My tastes in games have changed since then

Whoa there! No need to lump me into this bunch--you have no idea how old I am, mmkay? I happened to play many of these as a kid too and yes, the nostalgia factor is there, but is nostalgia really so different from pure enjoyment?

heh sorry I'm not intentionally lumping anyone ..I'm just generalizing based on the average age of the majority here

the nostalgia wil keep me entertained for a bit ...for me it's like watching old episode of the A-team ..while I loved that show as a kid I understand now that it's hack tv at it's best and probably wouldnt enjoy it now

Haha! Okay, 'nuff said.

And good point about the TV shows--there are so many shows that I used to LOVE and now they are borderline impossible to stand for 30-60 min. Knight Rider comes to mind....

oh god not david hasselhoff!!! I hated that show even when I was a kid ..his hair was always so perfect ..even after jumping a river while being chased by evil-doers ...anyone ever wonder why there were so many strategically placed ramps near rivers for some odd reason? even more strange that the bad guys always ended up the river, even though they just saw Kitt use the ramp which they completely missed?

LOL! I forgot about all of those ramps! Exactly the same thing for them good ole' boys from Hazzard County--The Dukes of Hazzard! Tons of ramps and wet/crashed cops! God-awful stuff now that I just used to love! Ah, youth....

I saw knight rider in canada a WHOLE YEAR before it came out in the uk, along with the A-team, grizzly adams and pop rocks. *nostalgia*

I remember also all of the Captains listed games as they first came out - back then, they were wonderous, expensive, hi tech things that only nerds knew about. Now, EVERYONE is a nerd. woo for evolution.
