Unassociating a file with a program?

I was modifying a ltx file with the text program, and my broken mouse accidentally double clicked the text program with the "always use this program for this type of file" checked, now I cannot properly use this ltx file, is there a way to revert the association?

In WinXP there are a couple of ways of doing it. Right click the file, go to 'Open with...', 'Choose Default Program...', choose the program you prefer, but make sure 'Always use this program to open this type of file' is checked.

The above method usually works for me but not 100% of the time - sometimes there are some hiccups with programs that are really stubborn about maintaining their associations, or Windows doesn't properly associate the file format with the new program or whatever. In this case, you need to open a Windows Explorer window, go to Tools > Folder Options > File Types, then delete the file format you are concerned with. This will unassociate that particular format from any programs and make Windows treat it as an 'unknown' file type, so the next time you try to open it you can start afresh in specifying what program you want to use.

I've never had to dabble with this much in Vista but I imagine it's a very similar if not identical process.
