I sitting here eating a nice dinner thats made out of basic's but never tried togeather before. I wanted to know what the best meal is you cook out of basic things like pasta ect.

The one im eating now is Pasta Chicken and Brown Sauce, sounds plain bt the brown sauce makes all the difference.

Also another one i do is chicken chopped up , sprayed with BBQ Marenetta, then roll in flour then fry, the flour my give the chicken a crisp finish really nice and really basic

Just want to know if anyone has come up with nice meals.

I make a lot of spag bol, stir fry pork/beef with vegetables, curries etc. I use up a hell of a lot of rice and potatoes, as I make wedges, bake 'em etc.

My spag bol is epic might I add. Vongole sauce ftw!

Carbonara can be easily made by dicing up bacon with onion and mushrooms. Cook it until it's crispy, then drain it. Cook some spaghetti, drain it, and while it's still hot, crack and egg into it and add a fair bit of parmesian. Mix the hot spaghetti and egg around until the egg is cooked, then add the bacon and onions and mushroom.

Home made pizza is really easy to make if you have some flour and yeast for the dough. You can put just about anything on top and it tastes good.

Any curry is just vegetables and meat with sauce.

Pan fried fish is very fast. Serve with some rice and fried zucchini or a side of steamed veg.

Burritos, and fajitas are just stir fried meat and veg with spices wrapped in a tortilla.

I had the ultimate student meal last night as I couldnt be arsed to go to the shops:

Baked Beans and Fish Fingers...in the same bowl. Mixed together. Oh yeah, tasted better than it looked.

But nah, first year i lossed so much weight by eating stirfrys and like a piece of chicken or steak or 2 lamb chops. Throw in some noodles, a good clove of chopped garlic, a good thumb sized chopped ginger, soy sauce, sharwood rice noodles (god theyre EPIC), maybe some oyster sauce, bit of chilli...omg heaven *salivates*. Stirfry with noodles is a meal in its own i found.

Also make tagliatelli alot, simplest meal EVER, throw some veggies in, and it can be kept in the fridge/freezer for a good couple of days.

Just make some tagliatelli, as thats boiling, a small tub of creme freche, mix in half a pot of pesto sauce of your choice, stir on the heat till liquidy, throw in some grated cheese to thicken it, drain pasta when done, mix the 2 together, easy, tasty and keepable.

You just need to learn easy recipes, most of the stuff i cook is done in 10 mins, except chicken, that needs 20-25min in the oven.

Fajitas and burritos are awesome too, or soft tortilla wraps, just make some spicy chicken, throw in some salad and sauce and voila, a small packed meal.

Carbonara is good. Oooh Dan's carbonara has inspired me, know what im having tomorrow now lol.

What is the North American word for creme fraiche? I see it in recipes a lot, but nobody here sells it. I think it is just what we would call whipping creme. Is this right?
