Uninstalling HL2

I'm about to wipe my harddrive clean due to many stange bugs and spam related crap. Anyway, will uninstalling (or deleting with my other harddrive content) make it difficult to get back on steam? Or will it be normal if I reinstalled HL2 after the wipe?

Just remember your username and password. It saves the games that you have purchased. You will either have to re-download them (if you bought them through Steam) or reinstall it (if you bought it retail).

From HalfLife2.net FAQ for other info about reinstalling:

"If you wish to uninstall Half-Life 2 (or any other Valve game) then right click on Half-Life 2 in your games list and select properties. Here there is an option to "Delete local game content". This will remove the Half-Life 2 files from your computer and you will be required to reinstall or re-download the content at a later date if you wish to reinstall. The game will still appear in your games list in case you ever change your mind."

You can always burn a backup too.

backup any stuff from the game directories you think you may want:

(e.g. saves from C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\YOUREMAIL\half-life 2\hl2
Also, the C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\YOUREMAIL\half-life 2\hl2\cfg folder contains how far you've unlocked in the game so, you may want to back that up too)

your save games are a good thing to backup, even if you aren't backing up the whole thing
