Urgent help please

Hey i was playing hl2 a few minutes ago, and all was working well until i died. When the area loaded again i noticed there was a frame per second indicator at the top right. I presume this is the same one that you get if u press cl_showfps 1

Anyway, i tried pressing that again in the console (after enabling it in the shortcut), and it didnt work. So all the other cheats work, but DISABLING this fps indicator is beyond me. I need to know how to get that annoying fps indicator at the top right of my screen off.

I dont know how the hell it got there in the first place but sure as hell want it to get lost again.

I appreciate any help.

thanks a lot fluke, and yes this was urgent because it was slowling my computer down heaps and the sound was screwing up. So it wasnt just an aesthetic issue, but a gameplay problem. Thanks a lot!

cl_showfps 1 should have virtually no effect on preformance.

Displaying your framerate doesn't hurt performance in the least. Something else was doing that. Displaying framerate helps you see when your performance is dropping, so it's useful to have.

This thread makes my brain hurt. Displaying your fps has no effect what-so-ever on your perfomance, so why was this urgent and how did it help your performance?
