using a controller on hl2?

I bought a logitech cordless rumblepad 2 I was wondering how would I use this? I tried using the executable fie and it wouldnt work... am I using the wrong one? What is the games executable file?

why would you want to play hl2 with a controller anyway?

it uses the steam exe with the attribute -applauch 220 or 270.
