I've heard so many people around the place that are cheating away, with god mode, no-clip, impulse 101 etc - before they've even finished the game.

I mean it must spoil the game completely. People have been getting the blue grav gun to use right from the start - it's pathetic.

How can anyone enjoy the game this way? The surprise and kick-assness of getting the blue grav gun for the first time will be gone, frustration but then jubilation of getting past the turret bit in nova prospect will be gone - it will all be ruined!

It's really quite silly.

was so tempting to cheat on that second turret raid.
but I hanged on, went through it and now throughout the game, and in one piece. and I'm glad. now I explore with the no clip and whatever, but I had to go through by myself (maybe with a hint or two from "I'm stuck" threads) but no sv_cheat or whatever.

Cheating will spoil the best single player experience you'll ever have. (to date)

I only cheated once because I thought there was a glitch in the place with the gunship that drops lots of bombs. i later realized that I was think outside the box to much ( i climbed up the airboat and released the flood gates before even opening up the other gate thing i didnt see the lever thing )

I used no cheats. I was stuck once really bad and asked for help on another forum and got no help and I eventually got through. The second turret thing in Nova Prospekt took me 2 goes. Once I onl yused turrets and they kept falling over and I couldn't set them up so the second go when they all fell over I just ran out and was running around like a madman shooting. The whole of the place was splattered red. I should of took a screenshot.

Yeah, I told myself before I started I wouldn't use cheats or ask for help. It was awsome, I only got stuck once and that was the stupidest thing ever I eventually figured it out when I saw the ladder when I was falling to my death.

I don't see anything wrong with asking for help as you still have some kind of challengedo but with cheats e.g god mode theres just no challenge.

I kept over thinking everything and trying to find a puzzle or somthing, so I used god mode and the ant lion part and found out that I could just shoot it to death, so I turned off god mode and re did it.

I've completed the game and got a few questions... :)

Whats the cheat for the blue gravity gun?

How do you create NPCs(Zombies,Combine and Rebels)?

yea i remember when i got tempted to use noclip when i got stuck on anticitizen, but didn't :)

To be honest I've been messing around with cheats for the entire game.

I find the single player experience outside of the first couple levels to be incredibly dull. I just want to get through it to admire the scenery and physics which I think is an absolute thrill.

In some ways I think of this game as a technology demo more than a solid, complete single player experience.

Tut tut tut... How sad it must be to be so unbelievably wrong.

I ruined the game for me pretty much - I had about 20hp in that first tunnel full of zombies in Sandtraps, and I kept getting torn to pieces from the fast ones - so I used God. I said that'll be it - but pretty much after than if anything got hard again I would just cheat :( My loss, heh..

Did you ever think that perhaps the single player experience after the first few levels is dull because you used cheats?

the problem with cheats is .. if you use them once, you will most probably use them again.

the player becomes more godlike than he is anyway, loses the feel for the game, and the whole of the experience goes down the bog ;(

resist the dark side!

I actually had do use noclip once, there was a glitch in the script so the stupid dog robot wouldnt open the entrance to the next level. Kindof sucked. I used it once more before i realized how to speed up the buggie, just to check if you really had to jump that stupid bridge. When I realized you had I had to figure out how to do it. I have actually never cheated in games before. Im pretty pissed about that dog. And the car speeding, no one ever told me you could boot the speed (it could hav said in the control options). Although i suspected it i never tried the run button (I guess htat makes me stupid....)

Wow.. A bit of anger there :) I started using cheats after I got bloody bored. I got to Ravenholm without cheating FYI, but was bored out of my skull. I just couldn't continue, so I went back and started using the cheats. My loss I guess.

On the ONLY strider in the citadel in which you have to attack after you get your super-grav gun..... At that point I had to cheat.
Not to kill the strider, but that force field after it.... I know you were supposed to use the energy balls or whatever ?or are you? but I just noclipped that one field. Not ashamed, just pissed since I never figured it out.
Edited due to typos: ohnoez

Is the "blue" gravity gun the more powerful gravity gun you use at the Citadel????

I played around with the cheats after I finished the game, and impulse 101 did not give me any "blue" gravity gun...
