k dont jump all over me if it's old news but I thought this was really cool:

"Someone at Epic must be a "Back to the Future II" fan, because one of these new rides happens to be none other than a hoverboard. (Though hopefully sans the pink color scheme and "Mattel" label.) Tim says that while it's technically not a vehicle, "the new hoverboard is quickly becoming a play test favorite. Instead of your trusty rocket launcher, hoverboard riders have a grapple that they can use to latch onto other vehicles. It's quite a sight to see a Hellbender towing three hoverboard riding teammates into the fray behind it."

cant wait till someone makes a vietnam mod ..I'd love to surf behind an attack boat while the Stones play in the background

good hands-on preview:

OT: When are game article writers going to learn to not use annoying metaphors and trite expressions?

Lets hope then can build a compentant game rather than the utter poop that UT2003/4 were.

Did you not play 2004?

I found 2004 to be fun.
Hover boards ftw! Though i have heard this news before. Stern, i'm dissapointed... ;)

To be fair, 2003 was solid as well. It just wasn't a new game as such.

Yep.

It was a long way away from the first UT.

And onslaught was massivly overated. Not fun at all.

Onslaught was one o my fave game modes. Deathmatch rocks all though.
Insta-gib can be fun too ^_^

Thats why Onslaught has more servers than any other mode right?

okay...so Stern pretty much confirms that if one does not have a next generation PC, the hoverboard will burn the video card and rip through the monitor and slit one's throat  ;(

UPGRADE BEFORE THE HOVERBOARD GETS TO YOU!! :P

radical to the max

and one other thing: don't tell Jack Thompson about, gamers' little secret ;)

Sounds awesome. Especially with the Trick park maps that will come with it.

Although I probably don't have a leg to stand on.

I though Battlefield: Vietnam was much more fun......

I look forward to playing this on the PS3.

Thank god Sony and Epic have co-operated so that it can use a USB keyboard+mouse on the PS3, with the game, so the argument that it'll suck on a console due to joypads is no longer functional.;)

FTFW!! Maps like those are what kept UT2004 alive alot longer for me.

Sounds great. This is going to be one insane game, simply put.

Am i the only one who feels that after the original UT the game went WAY too cartoony?

I never thought that the series was cartoony... I suppose it was never that grungy though. The indoor maps were quite clean and such.

ut2004 was definitely not poop, you'd have to be a fool to think so

I love every Back to the Future. I am glad someone finally decided to have in game a hoverboard.

i don't know, it just seems like 2004 was too bright, and the guns didn't seem to pack that punch they used too. I also hate what they did with the rocket launcher.

The hoverboards sound cool and the game definitely looks great. I guess the old ones looked great at the time of their release as well. Having said that though I never got into Unreal games. I detest online multiplayer games so I guess that's one reason. To me they never seemed to be more than a run-of-the mill, linear FPS.

I thought I was the only one who didnt play 03/04 at all. In my opinion, the first UT i played for hours and hours and hours. The last two have been terribly dissapointments to the series.

UT 2004 was a huge success amongst players and game critics, I think what you meant to say is "I hope they can make a game that I like better than what I thought the utter poop to be UT2003/4".

I wonder what the view will be like? Looking sideways?
