Several people have posted this before, but i just thought they where talking B-shit, untill yesterday.

I decided to play it for the 7th time, and it was SO different! I cant name it all, but more scripted scenes etc.

Example, in the City 17 maps, where the humans pull down the Breen Screen, a guy from the roof calls "hey down there, supplies" and throws supplies. I dont know about you guys, but that was NOT IN THE OTHER TIMES I PLAYED, i am complete serious, IT WAS NOT IN. And then a human screams (CP) and the combine walls opens and Civil Protection comes out, they didnt call "CP" before?

Not just that, but tons of things has changed, small things, i remember on another City 17 map, that the shadows where so wrong on a building, it looked awfull, but now its not there!

I have nothing against Valve changing our games, but they can atleast mention it?

maybe im wrong, but some stuff has changed since the last time i played!

There's a good chance that a lot of the scripted sequences weren't triggered before...if you know anything about mapping you'd know that it's possible.

If you think they are changing it...email Gabe and ask him

Well.. it was in there for me, when I played that level on the night of release.

There goes your theory.

If they wants to change thing like a guy on the roof throwing supplies they have to make a totally new map and downloading new maps takes time. Also people says lots of random things in hl2.

I got all that the first time I played.

I don't like that bit I try to climb the rope the women climbed and I walk right through the rope like it doesn't exsist and if you kill the swings on that level the ropes on the swings freeze in mid air. Stupid not physical ropes.

Look in your console, the red lines mean that a scripted event, loading a sound or something else went wrong.

That guy dropped me supply's my first time threw the game.

The guy drops supplies for me but only when i move towards him/under him, however if he does not say that ( as i don't walk under him) no one shouts out "CP!".

Eh, they might be doing so. Do I care? I don't care. They're still working for free mind you.

That's like the government secretly cracking down on crime in a super police operation. That's great.

Valve aren't changing the game...you probably just blindly rushed through the game in 2 hours first time around! All this stuff you talk about was in HL2 from the start.

The "CP!" shout thing is random. The stuff that the NPCs shout changes slightly depending on the situation, so yeah, that could be different. But that man on the bridge was always there.

I got all that and I started playing the game at 8am GMT on November 16th. Sorry mate :)

Bridge, what bridge? I am talking about the plaza

Well, i guess it was just a trigger error then...

He means the bridge in Water Hazard. And yes, must have been an error or you just missed it.

Ah, I know what bit you're referring to now. Yes THAT bit was there too. It might be triggered by proximity though, not sure.

First time I played through, the Plaza Scene happened. Some other times, it happens without me noticing it: I know this because the crates have already smashed on the floor by the time I stop gathering up my squad.

I've played th game thru 5 times, never seen that one.

The crate dropping in the square is triggered by the player looking up at the guys dropping them. As you might have noticed from the scene in Eli's lab (where he gives you the inside track on various objects lying around like the Cremator head, pictures and newspaper clippings), events can be triggered in this way. The trigger ISN'T a proximity trigger, but is actual tripped by looking at an object.

Valve have in fact made small changes to maps in Steam updates. For instance in the Water Hazard section where the Combine slam the big weir doors on you and you have to go into the large industrial building to open them, there was a prominent bit of z-fighting (basically two textured faces trying to occupy the same plane, causing a zebra-stripe effect as they 'fight' over which textured plane gets drawn first) at the bottom of one of the stairs. This was gone after I updated.
