Valve is slacking off - look I can walk right off the edge of the map in this vid.

And you'd wan't to walk of the edge of the map why?
VALVe didn't "slack off", YOU walked off the edge of the map, something you shouldn't do. And if your not meant to do it, they wouldn't bother waste more time doing it.
BTW, I'm sure you'll have some response that'll prove me wrong (always happens) so I'll just leave you with this...do you have any idea how much effort making a game, particualy one as awesome as HL2: EPI ONE is? They can't get everything perfect you know.
BTW first! :p

Omg One Missed Bug Valve Is Slacking Off Jesus The World Is Ending Omg Bbq

Slacking off? Err, no. You found a bug. Every game is filled head to toe with them, so what?

I believe the proper term is OMGWTFBBQ?!!!!one11

Anyway, to the original poster, every game has a bug however minor or major.

I don't see why this was posted. It doesn't prove anything except that whoever mapped that level forgot to clip that part.

They made a mistake. OMG!

I really doubt thepeople who spent 6 years making just one game so that its perfect, and another year and half for a 4 hour game would be 'slacking off'. In fact, i think the half life's are the least bugged game out of them all ;)

forum full of kids flaming each other ... the world has changed :D:D:D

Funny, I never encountered that. And I've played it several times. It's not Valve's fault you're curious beyond belief. And what do you think the load button is for?

EDIT: I just watched the vid, and from my perspective I don't see the harm. Did you die? not from the vid I saw. Get over it, if this is the least of the bugs that exist with EP1, be grateful. I don't remember Valve ever promising an infallible product. I suppose it is an interesting find, but I would hardly call Valve "lazy".

you have a legal copy right? i guess there are more bugs in pirated copies then legit...

There's absolutely no point in going up there, at all. There's no indication that you're supposed to go there, and the way you are supposed to go in that level is pretty obvious. Most of the people that I know, when they go and play a game, they play it all the way through on the obvious path you're supposed to follow, and don't end up leaving that path to search for areas like that. That's probably the case with the Valve playtesters, as well, I imagine that they playtest the game pretty much on the path you're supposed to follow to get to the next area, and finish the game, and don't really expect people to stop at some point in a level and look around for another place to go, when it's quite obvious where you're supposed to be going. And, of course, no one's completely perfect. The level designer who created that level probably forgot about that error, and when the playtesters played through that level they didn't have any real reason to go up there and the bug wasn't found. As I said before, there's no point in going up there, and you probably won't find as many major errors like that if you play the game from start to finish, instead of going and looking for all those hard to reach areas, or places behind large citadel wall props that you generally have no real reason to go to or can't find without looking around the level for them first. So don't expect them to go and release an update fixing small errors in level design like this, when there's other things that should be updated first, or worked on instead of this.

well i guess their just slacking off too much for u to buy EP2, i mean wow that glitch impacted the gameplay completely, i mean if valve would think of something called, auto-saves or a button that u have to press to load that previous part, then they would deserve ur purchase right? wait, that already exsists! DUH ME! just do me a favor, dont buy EP2, so u wont have to deal with the lazy valve and their one area of clipping that was not discovered, that way u dont have to be so upset over it. and we can all enjoy knowing what happened to alyx and whats up with the g-man.

man, i hate episode one now, how sloppy! what a game-ruiner.

LOL I really don't care. I just posted it because I need to complain about something and that was the best I could find :P

@BrimStone: NOESSSS I need Episode 2 the day it comes out!!

You found a bug. Every game is filled head to toe with them, so what?

So what? Lets dance!

Meh. Everyone makes mistakes. Remember that time you made that ridiculous video and thread about the innocuous bug in ep1? Yeah, it happens to the best of us.

It's a showstopper bug for me. How can I play the game with the knowledge of this bug? :D

Admittedly, saying Valve slacked off due to this bug is hyperbole, but so have been the tone of the defensive responses.

Why should one not explore the maps? Why does one have to go in a linear path? It's interesting that this bug was found, and I imagine at some point it could be fixed in a patch although it's obviously not a big deal.

I do think however that he was stuck after dropping down. It didn't seem as though he could move back into the "normal" area after he was moving in that direction again.

omg hes right valve DID slack off. i mean look at it! that spot is totally not clipped.

its so obvious now that episode one, perhaps even all of hl2, was just a huge half-assed game that didnt have any fun or creative or innovative and historical game moments.

Ok Ok, let's not get ahead of our selves, there might be a few glitches, but other games are just as bad... if not worse! there is no reason to hate HL2 for one little mistake that could lead to cheating the entire level and... Ok i get the point

don't worry shields, if these people don't pick on people making innocent posts they shrivel up and die.

That video took 28 seconds of my life and I want them back.

I actually find it fun finding glitches like that, I found one in HL2 when you get to Water Hazard. When you're in that huge radiation bathed lake at the start of Water Hazard, drive up to where the valve is and take one of the boxes, then go to the other side thats on land and put the box there. Jump on the box and then climb up the hill, you'll see all the previous areas before you got the airboat, you'll even be able to reach the area where that guy got killed by a headcrab. There's also a lot of invisible floor

lol, only 31 health after the antlion guard fight.

Tell me how much health should I have after the antlion guard fight? On hard mode you get unlucky sometimes... Do I have to beat every fight on hard without losing health in order to criticize an aspect of the game?

On the one hand...oh well. Who cares. Big deal. Other gruff expressions of not-caring.

On the other hand, people going "it's your fault! You shouldn't have gone there in the first place" are being very stupid.

Well I don't know about you, but it has totally changed Episode 1 for me. I go through that section blindfolded.

Ok, so you're right- sayign that was pointless. So what was the point of telling everyone about this bug you discovered?

Also, what I said could be considered mean, and doesn't really have anything to do with what was at hand. So what was it when you said valve were "slacking off"? Besides untrue, I mean.
