When the heck did this happen?

Omg, Pirates! too.

Wow, all my memories are on here now. o_O

Haha, Steam is > then all right now.

I really recommend you guys to get Bloodlines. Buggy yes, but a brilliant game.

If you get the Steam version, I believe you wont be able to apply the unofficial patches, right?
:(

That would be lame. I have the disk version which i got on release day, and its a damn good game... but some times its literally impossible to play without the patches.

You can apply unofficial patches, i've read it somewhere in the steam forums

The Steam version of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is the 1.2 version of the game.

You can install the community created patch to the Steam version, but I have not confirmed any of the fixes being present in the game. The community patched version of the game will not be supported by Activision or by Steam Support.

this game didn't get the attention it would've deserved when it came out

WOot! the now second most bugged rpgfps game is now on steam!

Stalker coming in first of course!

wtf?
Bloodlines was WAAAAAAAYYYY more bugged than Stalker is.
Plus I'm sure Stalker will get more patches.

Best buggy game ever made. The quality of the gameplay/atmosphere/story far outweighs the bugs.

You implying Stalker is on Steam :O

ummm....huh?

no i implied stalker is the buggiest rpgfps ever. And i think i may be right. Who releases a game where its potluck whether you get a bugged version or not. Thanks. And with new policies on PC games from shops where you cant return them due to potential copying, even though i actually WANT to take it back because of my own principles (why should the company get my money on something they didnt finish) and the fact that it IS actually ***ked...it doesnt help

Ahh thought you were implying it was coming to Steam and was :O

Yea damn UK game stores!

lol bump.

I just got my CD's back from my cousin and started playing again. It still awesome, but oh god the textures are awful. Anyone know if theres a high res texture pack for the game?

Unnecessary bump....

I thought this was recent. :(

Yes.

No idea where though.

I started getting into this game, pretty fun. But christ on a ****ing stick I am pissed.

I have the patch installed and I have come across a game-stopping bug. When I get to the Society of Leopold (Place for Vampire Hunters) and I try to leave out the doors, the game crashes. Currently there is only one save I can load without it crashing, but everytime I try to leave out the doors, crash.

Also, sometimes the AI in this level will just STOP WORKING, and thusly I cannot even open the doors.

This game is the most buggy ass game I have ever dealt with ( I do not see how people complain about things like STALKER in light of how buggy this game is)

Anyways, I will try and reinstall the patch, but I am sure it won't do anything. There is almost no excuse for how buggy/glitchy this ****ing game is.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, I know what you feel. Troika was a great developer, but their games were always buggy.

By the way, did you anyone notice the apartment you live in Down Town? It has only four floors from outside, but you can go up to sixth floor when you get in.

There's a lot of excuses, but none you would listen to :3 (i got just as pissed when my game crashed over, and over, and over...)

. To sum it up though, when they got the Source engine Valve didn't give them the AI code, the sheer size and quality of VTM meant that they had to rush a lot of things, I think there was some broo-hah-hah involving the use of the Source Engine and the release of Half-Life 2, and Troika folded pretty much after they released it.

I still don't see why they couldn't have properly playtested it. I mean, there are some BAD bugs in it, and it's not like these are rare, a huge number of people get this bug. They must have been freaking blind to miss some of these.
Bah, I am angry.

Anyways, can anyone tell me how to properly install this patch? (I am almost certain I did correctly the first time, but maybe by some chance I missed something/screwed it up)

That's just good side of the story. Troika, in fact, was not happy about Source Engine, and it's features. I know some people blame Activison for the rush, but it's actually Valve's fault. There's a lot to say, but it won't resurrect Troika, nor change Valve's cruel relationship with other developers.

Edit: I'm not saying Valve is a bad company, but it's not right to worship them like they're some god, and ignore their harsh decisions.

Time constraints.

Serious time constraints.

Also Valve butt-****ed them pretty badly on the Source engine dealy.

I dont think Valve really had much choice. Half life 2 came out the same day as VTM so they probably didnt have the engine down 100% when they gave it out.

Even HL2 was a bloody mess when it first game out. It stuttered like crazy and the load times were atrocious ... it's fixed now, but the source engine was dog shit at first and it ruined a great developer.

Yep, I cannot get the patch to install, even after removing the other one, and I cannot get the console open(Even when I do it as you are supposed to) to cheat and move onto the next level.

****ing ridiculous, theres nothing I can do but uninstall 23 hours of gameplay.

Its ok, just play Malkavian the next time through.

That's what I am planning to do if the reinstall doesn't help (which I don't expect it to)

I hear the Malkavian are.. interesting.

How are the Nosferatu and Gangrel?

I've never played Nosferatu, I find them hideous and revolting. Plus they live in the sewers and can't go outside.

Gangrel are pretty much the same as the others (excluding Malks and the Nosferatu).

So will a masquerade be violated if you come out of the sewers or something? Or do you like, have to go in sneak mode when you are in the city?

Masquerade violation every time a human sees you, as far as I know.

Nossies have a set amount of time they can stay close to non-plot-essential humans before it becomes a Masquerade violation, but there's plenty of sewer stuff to do any obscufate helps quite a bit.

Yeah, you pretty much just Obfuscate everywhere.

Actually that sounds kinda fun...

/reinstalls

Just reinstalled and Society of Leopold still crashes :|

Do you have the several unofficial patches as well?

Well Taviow had me install one unofficial patch. I guess the one on steam already has the regular official patch. So I just removed the one unofficial one Taviow had me install anyways.

It's not so much replaying that bothers me, (well, 23+ hours is a lot of work), but it's the fact that I don't want to play again and have it crash again.
