Okay, i'm waiting for Dod:Source and other army mods to come out. I've been playing Men of Valor online for the past few months and have the following observations:

1) in no place in HL2 was vegetation usable as cover to gain advantage over the enemy

2) in none of the mod updates i'm viewing do i see bushes, kunai grass (think Vietnam fields) or woodland - therefore see point 1)

This mail isn't saying MoV is better than HL2, or for that matter FarCry (they aren't) but they do usable greenery to a decent standard and i just get the feeling the HL2 engine doesn't do veggies very well.

Someone please prove me wrong.

cheers

Well yeah, everyone knows that rendering believable shrubbery is critical to a game engine's success and functionality.

Hand me a shovel! Time is of the essence!

But yeah, jungle plants would have been very useful in the one (1) level where you fight the combine outdoors. Obviously since there weren't any forests in the city, the prison or the citadel, the game suffered.

One thing I noticed which was cool was that the 2D sprites (i think they are sprites) of the foliage moved depending on the direction you walked into/away from it (like saloon doors).

If someone utilised that in a mod with prone it would look cool to see someone crawl along the floor with all the bushes moving.

Maybe it would be cool, maybe I'm just insane!
