I was playing through Sandtraps yesterday and what bothered me was that when I reached the revolutionaries' post, the soldier says "You'll have to go on foot from now". I was puzzled because I've been on foot throughout the Sandtraps level. Is there a vehicle to be used in the level?

Remember the buggy you got in Highway 17? It is supposed to be used through ALL of highway 17 and halfway through Sandtraps (some guy tells you to park it in a garage).

So temme where did you leave the buggy?

Good question. That's "Mission Crtical" equipment.

Oh god, another one? Don't you people think "wow, there's a LOT of just walking around and doing nothing. It takes AGES to get to each "action" point. I wish I had a car or boat - wait a minute: I DID have one! Why oh why did I leave it? Seriously... why?".

I left my buggy back at the blocking sheet near the train bridge. I couldn't figure out how to disable it. After the disabled the bridge's blocking sheet, I continued on my way. How do you disable the blocking sheet that comes before it? That could explain why the pace of the game felt so slow suddenly. ;)

I wouldn't say it took ages. I thought it was supposed to be part of the realism or something.

If you didn't find put how to disable it, how come you got throught it?
Anyway, you should go under the bridge and find a control room to disable the field.

That's another good question. IF he left the buggy, then the next load point SHOULD (in my opinion) destroy it, can he wouldn't be able to continue. What you were SUPPOSED to do was actually take it with you on the bridge after deactivating the field below in the room where you destroy the gunship. When that's deactivated, you drive up to the bridge and try to avoid a razor train coming at you, it took me a while the first time, but that's what you're supposed to do. How long DID it take you though, because now I'm tempted to try :P

Not long, actually. Let's just say not long enough to get bored. :p

@bbson: Before the bridge's field there is another field, if you remember. I left my buggy there.

Also, I don't recall seeing a train on the bridge, since I went from the other side of the bridge - i.e. the left edge. :p I did hear heavy rumbling, though.

You had to knock the APC powering the field into the sea. Is it THAT unobvious?

I wait for Shasta to go all Shasta on you.

Lol, some poor guy collecting stats for HL2 just saw yours and his head exploded :).
I can't believe you stuck with the game for that stretch, I would have gotten bored just crossing that bridge on foot.

I don't know, if I were a couple years younger, I might have made the same mistake. It would be interesting though, especially so, when crossing the beaches. I mean, normally, with the buggy's turbo, you can just blast through there, but man, getting through that sand on FOOT? How many times did you die? Seriously, I wanna know :P

What sand? There was only the road after the bridge. I didn't die once, at Normal difficulty.

This thread is made of win and "yay, sabretooth" with a helping of "OMG Shastasplodeness".

Seriously, props to you for not totally going insane on that amount of space to cover without a vehicle.

I think he's talking about the bridge where you get the crossbow after knocking all the cars out of the way, then driving on, then you have to knock the APC away from the transformer. :)

Yeah... that's how ya does it. :P

Yep, there's 2 bridges.
the first is sort of a tutorial to the second. i.e:

1. Forcefield in road!

2. Fight way to power source

3. Disable field

4. Go back to buggy

5. Drive on!
