Videocard that runs very cool

So I recently upgraded and sold my old videocard to a buddy (nvidia 8800gt), the card runs really hot. Too hot for his case (HP Pavilion) -- I added extra fans and even tried a GPU cooler card underneath it.

I'm just going to take the card back and sell it on ebay. My question is what is a videocard of similar performance but runs much cooler?

GTX 470 is not similar performance to the 8800. He probably doesn't want to spend that much, which is why he asked for a card with similar performance.

Well i already purchased this for him, but it didn't help alot with the 8800gt.

I had a radeon 4850 that ran really cool once I replaced the cooler with a third party one. Don't know if you're comfortable swapping coolers, but its not difficult and it would get you what you're looking for. Beyond that though, I dont have much other experience. My 5850 run decently cool with its stock cooler, but I dont know how that compares to other cards.
