view bob

Hi all,

I've just re-installed HL2 after a reformat and not playing it for a couple of months, and I've noticed there's no view bob!

Has that always been the case? Now that I notice it, it seems really unrealistic. I thought maybe once I got into the HEV there would be one (uncomfortable thing making Gordon limp?) but alas, no.

Any ideas? Is there a console setting to switch it on? Was it disabled by an update I didn't previously have because of all the people with motion sickness?

I don't recall any view bob at all, and yeah, I think it's abit unrealistic to just "float" over the ground. But you don't notice it that much in-game.

I've worked out what it is.. I'm so used to seeing a weapon in Gordon's hand, which does bob about, that now that I'm playing at the beginning again with no weapons, everything seems really static.
