Voltage for Athlon 3000+ Barton

How much voltage do I need for an Athlon 3000+ Barton? I'm changing my Intel Celeron 1.8Ghz and Intel D845PESV mobo for an Athlon 3000+ Barton and an ASUS A7N8X-X mobo but want to keep the computer case (Codegen Long 300W P3/P4 Middle). Is 300W enough?

Why don't you buy a slower processor and some more RAM. That would give you much more benefit in HL2 and running other programs.

How about an Athlon XP 2700+ for $108 and 256 MB of PC2700 RAM (for a total of 512 in your system) for $46. I got my prices at www.newegg.com.

The XP 3000+ requires 1.65 V. A 300 W PSU should be enough for your system.

The high end Athlon XP processors (3000+ and 3200+) are relatively poor investments. An Athlon 64 2800+ costs the same as the XP 3000+ but outperforms even the XP 3200+. S754 boards are more expensive than Socket A ones, but even the low-end ones are K8T800-based and have SATA/RAID.
