Wait a minute!

I just had this thought, ok valve told us that the sdk will be released before the game so that mod teams will be able to get up and running before the release of hl2 right? And they told us this even before the sept 30 release delay right? NOW, we didn't know hl2 was going to be delayed all the way up until around the 30th of sept right? And we assumed the delay was because of the leak/stolen code right?
Now valve must have known that they would be delaying hl2 even before the theft and leak or else the sdk would have been released a long time ago right? This doesn't add up for some reason, I don't think the source code theft was part of the delay, other wise we would have seen the sdk in august or early september. Any thoughts?

They already said that the source code theft had nothing to do with the delay, they had planned to delay a while before it happened.

Isn't it distressing that Valve would be lying out of their asses that they'd release it on time... and to trust them, knowing full well that they'd be delaying it?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not an anti-Valve guy. I appreciate that releasing games can run into snags. But releasing a statement of affirmation days before the supposed release date knowing it's all lies is a bit of a dick move. I don't fault them for falling through with the release of HL2. But I fault them for lying.

EDIT: This was probably already discussed a lot... apologies. But I just started posting here and had to get that off my chest. I'm more of a CS fan anyway, but now I'm really really looking forward to HL2 as well.

I agree. The pr guy should be fired talk about a bone headed move. They should have shown it at E3 said "the game is great and it's nearing completion so much so that we may even have it out on store shelves by the end of the year." And then hype would continue rather than everyone being pissed off because Valve was lieing through there feath er teeth.
