Was Race X collecting samples?

In OPFC there is a part when a creature teleports into a room with a security guard and a scientist inside. The guard says he can handle this and opens fire, he is soon after struck by the electric bolts from a shockroach. The scientist is scooped up by the shocktroper and teleported away.

Now what I'm wondering is if anyone else thinks Race X was collecting samples.
 
Maybe,,, i never thought of it but, it's possible,,, scary...
 
In fact here is a crazy off the wall idea: Maybe Race X collected soldiers also, that could possibly be the start of the Combine.
 
Race-X probably was collecting samples, though not for any manipulation reasons. I think that the shock troopers were just trying to find out more about us, our weaknesses. Maybe they grabbed that guy for interrogation, also.

I just went back and played that scene again today (I had a mind to play all of OpFor again, but I decided against it). The shock trooper doesn't initially seem hostile until Barney opens fire on it, so maybe it was simply "considering" these humans. Only afterwards does it kill the guard and steal the scientist. Maybe it would've tried starting up a dialogue. Maybe the shock trooper race just wanted their baby back (the lizard/squid gun that Adrian picks up).

On a side note, it was funny to hear Otis remark, "Those poor bastards," after the trooper disappeared through the portal.
 
not sure if hl2 will have any race x stuff, or if the theory holds any water... but that's a sweet idea :D
 
What if Race-X was at war with Xen. After Earths intervention both Race-X and Xen concentrated on Earth (Race-X collecting samples to find a way to attack Xen)

I got this idea when I was at the dam in op4. Instead of attacking me, the shock trooper (Race-X) starting attacking the gargantua (Xenian), which was tied up on the dam several metres away (did it have a grudge against the garg)
 
I just beat Op4 yesterday and I don't remember a shock tropper being on the damn. I thought the shock troopers and the boss at the end were all Xenians. Guess I was wrong eh?
 
Weren't the xenians mostly slaves anyways? After killing the Nihiliath, they were all set free right? Well what if race X invaded earth, and as a favor for freeing them from the Nihiliath, the vortigaunts and whatever other slaves there were agree to help us fight race X. All I can say is God Bless valve.



Seriously, were sitting here talking about the storyline of a game. There is no other game in the world that I have encountered that is god enough to talk about its sp. HL2>All
 
Thing is, Nihilanth seems to be saying that he's a slave too... maybe he's forced somehow to control the Vortigaunts and their bretheren for Race X? And since the points at which you see Xenians and Race-X fighting are quite possibly after the Nihilanth was killed... maybe his death sparked off a rebellion?

BTW, the Shocktroopers aren't on the dam, they teleport in at the far end of it.

I reckon the whole thing will be revealed in HL2. My guess is that the Xenians were willing to forgive the humans for kidnapping some of them, and helped them against Race-X, after they were freed from slavery. But that's just a guess...
 
Well, since Race-X only really appeared on force a few levels after you see Freeman go through the portal I think it's safe to assume they were waiting for Xen to be defeated before they invaded earth. In any case, it seems likely they were, if not at war wth Xen, then opposed to them.
 
Without the Nihilant to stop ppl to use Xen, the Race X decided to "expand" their dominions. Remember that he commandered them.

The Xenians attacked the Race-X because they didn't wanted the anyone to be using Xen.But without leadership, they could not stop the massive invasion.

I don't think I said that.... I meant he commandered Xen, not Race-X
 
When you think about it though, maybe Race X is the Combine. They collected "samples" from BMRF and made the Combine as a better means for fighting both humans and Xen. It has been confirmed that the Xen oppose the Combine. I can not wait to find out.

my (crazy) theory if that maybe the Race X leader are cretures powerles and maybe whoiuot form,I mean the litle starts that you follow in op4,maybe they can make creatures whit genetic information or something like that,and maybe they collect genetic information of all creatures to expand theyr army,like a parasites,that can be the reason of why the Race X creatures look so diferents they self,cuz they hav take genetic information of many creatures,but they dont hav information of the Xenonians and humans

thats part of my (crazy) theory
