In the coast video we can see that the player has the regular HL-inventory and can choose from a good bunch of weapons.
In the coastline video we can see Gordon throwing away his shotgun in order to pick up the missile launcher.

The later makes more sense to me.. although I think you should be able to have two large weapons like shotgun, machinegun, missile launcher and such, one in his hands and one on the back. Two pistol size weapons could be carried and a few other things like HG, mines and so on. Plus the crowbar of course ;) This way you would have to think ahead somewhat and decide which weapons you can't be without. This worked very well in FarCry :)

Which way is it in the final version? The former I guess :|

Its going to be jsut like HL1.

They were, at one point, thinking of implementing a restricted inventory but thank god they decided not to. Or they were showing off how cool it looked to throw a gun around.

Back then they were messing around with an inventory system like that, but as of now it's reverted back to the classic Half-Life system where you can carry everything.

I think Valve stated that you could carry as much weapons as you want, it makes the game less realistic yes, but it gives you a wide variety of weapons to choose from, and you get to test out all the weaponsi in the game. So the mode from "Coastline" is the one that will be used.

After all, it is the future :E

just watched it again and noticed something. when he launches the grenaded from his mg at the antlions, he actually scrolls down to the crossbow. however the smg comes up...strange lol.

that rocket scene is the gaming comedy scene of the year imo.

and then there's the part when he shoots the grenade back at the combine soldiers using the manipulator...genius.

Yes, we noticed that a long time ago, and it had been discussed many times, glad to see that you have your eyes open, though. :D

it might be cool if they made the hardest difficulty level so that you could only carry a limited arsenal and had to drop weapons.

I still think you should be able to catch headcrabs as they jump at you and throw them at the opfor

I think a Halo style inventory would be interesting, but it just wouldnt be Half-life, a mod of some sort or some feature to enable this would be a nice feature.

Halo is a worthless game with nothing to add to the industry. <---- thts what they get for screwing the PC world and selling out to Microsoft

Quoted for truth..
Hmm.. i think the inventory looks fine...
it's simle and clean..

As the Gabe said numerous times to lots o' ppl, IT WILL BE AS IN THE ORIGINAL, not that I understand why though since it does not add any realism...

Because realism isn't always fun. If I wanted realism I'd go play real life

It would be so much better if they left that for a mod to EASILY do. More people prefer holding all weps, so it would work perfect.

Edit: Oh, and ignore the little things like when he switches to crossbow, but "doesn't"
Those are just glitches in the recording.

If you think about it, that's not an option. If you're not a Colombine kid that is...

Isn't 1 melee weapon, 2 pistols and 2 maybe three larger weapons enough? Plus grenades and stuff.

Well if its the former way you just need to imaging its the later way. everytime you pick up a weapon you need to decide if you want to use it or not. and if you want to you have to choose a weapon from your inventory you no longer use.

so wtf ffs ?!

I don't understand what you mean. I would want it to be a limit as to how many weapons a man can carry at a time.

I think he was suggesting that you pretend that you have a limited number of weapons, Yellonet, only switching what you're "carrying" when you find another one lying on the ground...

That's what I though... just didn't want to believe that that was what he meant
