I just started watching this show due to a few friends raving about it. As it turns out, it's a fantastic show.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0439100/

I don't have Showtime, so I had to borrow my friend's copy. I just finished Season 1 last night and currently looking forward to starting 2 here soon. Anyone else a fan?

When her husband, Judah, dies of a sudden heart attack while out with his ten-year-old son, Shane, Nancy Botwin finds herself in a financial crisis. With no other option available to her, she turns to Conrad Shepard and his family to sell cannabis, using a fake bakery to move the goods. Aided by her wayward black-sheep brother-in-law, Andy (Judah's younger brother), she struggles to keep her new means of bill-solving secret from suspicious PTA members and her nosy neighbors as well as from her children, Shane and his teenage brother, Silas. Coping without Judah as the patriarch of the family reflects in the Botwins, especially Shane, who is going through the painful process of growing up without his dad, with Andy as the reluctant and rather poor substitute for father-and-son topics that go with growing up.

Sounds... interesting.
It's not overly dramatic is it?

I've seen it on Showtime a few times, never bothered watching it.

Watching through Season 2 right now. It's funny and all around great.

I've seen seasons 1-3, 4 just started. I really love it, it goes downhill a wee bit in later seasons but it's still entertaining.

I watched like the first 3 episodes. I liked it, but never got back to watching it for some reason...

She's a MILF (and so is her mate) and she's not afraid to use it, which works for me 100% of the time. Show can be a little Topsy turvy at times, but overall it's amusing and worth watching.

I just finished the second season and holy **** what a cliffhanger.

I guess not many people watch this show. Hm.

Well I finished the entire series tonight. After the insane cliffhanger at the end of season two, I was disappointed with the first five or so episodes of season three. I didn't like where the plot was going and it got too "serious" for me. After that low point, however, it picked right up and kept going. Season four looks like it's going to be a great one with the way things have been going.

Also, I think I set a record for quickest viewing ever. 40 episodes in four days with those episodes totaling over 40 hours. Heh. Yeah, I had nothing else to do.

Oh, I saw Season 1 of this at the library. I figured it was probably not that great - just a wild guess. I've never seen it.

I'll check it out next time I go to the library.

i watch only 2 shows:
Prison Break
Nip/Tuck

Pointless spam much? :dozey:

Overall it's been pretty good. Season 3 did go off the rails a bit, but Season 4 is looking promising. I think the reason it's easy to pack the episodes in though, is because they are so short (20 mins or so each), you can pack a few in in a viewing and not feel guilty.

Just watched part of an episode last night and got a few chuckles.

I'll definitely be adding this to my list of things to watch.

Nah, I pretty much woke up, started Weeds at 1pm and ended at 2am for a couple days there. But now I actually might have to do something else considering there's no more episodes for me to catch up on. I'm looking forward to tomorrow, though. Hopefully EP4 will be up quickly.

I've seen the first two episodes of season 4, it's looking interesting but I'm wondering exactly where it's going. Also, ep4 WILL be up quickly, the internet generally gets HDTV rips within 30 minutes of the end of the episode's original airing <3

Also watching all of it in a few days is nothing, I watched two seasons of 24 in two days :D

If you need a decent TV show to watch when the Weeds withdrawal kicks in I seriously recommend Mad Men, which shares nothing in common with it, but is a good drama show (Season 2 is about to start), and if that isn't up your street, beg/borrow/steal the Wire, preferably Season 1 & 2 as it's the bollocks and all other TV shows are its bitch ;)

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out right now, because the withdrawal is horrendous.

I was at a friends house last night and we watched a few episodes from the new season. I wasn't really sure about what was going on, but I liked what I saw anyway, so I picked up season 1 today for 20 bucks. Can't wait to actually watch it.

Great!

Anyone else following the new season? I'm liking the change in location.

The show is good, but sometimes I can't help but scoff at how utterly ridiculous it can get. Although you do have to appreciate the "creativity".

Like how a big deal was made about Andy going off to the military. How do they bring him back? SECRET STABBY SPY DRONE.

It can get overwhelming sometimes, but the characters are always engaging. If you don't like Doug, then I have nothing to say to you. Although I don't like how some of them were bumped off or otherwise dropped without another mention.

It's on netflix instant watch. I had given it some thought before, but now I guess I'll have to watch at least a couple of episodes.

Yeah I miss Conrad and gang.

It never has been realistic. A woman being a drug lord that lives in the suberbs. But it's the characters that make the show, not the plot.

I know it's not realistic, but it stretches the suspension of disbelief a wee bit too much at times.

The show is like doing a somersault down a hill of all the possible ridiculous twists, turns, and shit that can (and does) go wrong, that by the end of a season you just want to say "****! Back off a bit, seriously!'. There's almost no room to breathe. And then it just spills over into the next season and it all keeps tumblin'.

But maybe I'm just saying this because, perhaps appropriately enough, I have never watched the show while not high. And thus my perception of it is a bit more colorful.

I can see where you're coming from with the "no room to breathe" comment. The ending of season two into season three just seemed way too tense and ****ed up to enjoy. The new setting and environment seems to be going back towards the first season of Weeds: more light hearted.

Sadly the show is far from perfect. There have been a lot of poor story line ideas at times that is for sure. Anyone remember Celia has a second daughter? The one that got shipped off somewhere? Or the Tattoo that strangely disappeared?

Agreed about the Andy storyline..that was utter pants. Still I forgive and forget the lapses. I'd like to see Conrad etc back in the show though, as he was a cool dude.

I got a recommendation for this show from a friend couple days ago(who should have mentioned this way before) and I picked up the first season on Blu-Ray. I just watched the first 2 episodes today. I think it's entertaining but, doesn't hook me in that much... hopefully the other episodes build things up.

One thing that kinda gets to me is how they bag up the weed. I know it's probably minor but, those damn dub sacks are so exaggerated they actually look like a couple grams each but less than an 1/8th

If anyone is keeping up with the current season, it looks like the season finale (next week) is going to be balls crazy.

Yay, that means it should only be a few months wait for the DVDs! (or for a pack of all the episodes to be thrown online.)

I love this show so much, the characters all work so well with eachother and they're all loveable.
I don't think I hate anyone on the show.

Just a reminder that it starts up again in a little over a month! :D

thinking of checking out this show, but i dont want to spend 9000 years and 9999gbs to download it, stream plz?

Yeah, I posted here a while back saying I would check this out. So I've seen all of season 1. Got the other 2 seasons from the library, right here in front of me. I'm glad you recommended it. This is a really great series.

I just finished all four seasons in a week. The withdraw is really, really bad. I suppose that makes it a good show.

Sucks that I can't afford to have satellite TV anymore...
Won't be able to catch Weeds on TV when it starts up again. :(

I still haven't watched any but the first couple episodes of Season 4, I need to get on that.

A week and 3 daysssssssss!
This is great timing since Breaking Bad is coming to a close this Sunday.

I just started this show because a girl I'm going out with said it was great and I needed something new to watch being done with deadwood, the wire, 24, and breaking bad. Holy shit, this is probably the best show on TV right now. I am done with season 3 and downloading season 4 now. Took me about a week to finish the first 3, I'll probably get season 4 done next weekend in time for the new 5th season.
