Weilding/Welding (wotever) , your thoughts?

Okay, this is my plan.

I'm going to weld a live headcrab to... uhmm... a big stick, and any enemy I shall encounter shall feel the wrath of my headbcrab sitck, and hell, why not, I'll weld a couple of saw blades to the sides of it incase I miss with the headcrabness, I can swing my saw blady-goodness at them.

And if worse comes to worse, I'll weld together a big metal box, and I'll find or model some gears and put them in the game, and weld them onto the inside, and then make it large enough to hold 6 headcrabs... and then... and then weld a switch and some wiring to the iside and then make a headcrab launcher... with... sawblades and stuff... Oh, and then weld a torch to the bottom that ignite the headcrabs on thier way out (which will be covered in gasolene from my gas tank that sprays thats welded on the inside...)

My flaming gas-covered headcrab buzz saw launcher will be of great magnitude

Or... just... shoot people with guns... i guess... but my other idea is much more fun and would take a good 13 hours of gameplay time

That is a pretty cool show.

I wonder how complex the physics in HL2 are.

More complex than you think. There was a video someone made of the leaked beta (which I will not post a link to) which has 2 buggies attached to a horizontal beam which spins around. the beam spins around for a while, and the buggies along with it. And the buggies start tilting the way it should, due to centripetal acceleration!! And whats even more amazing, is when the whole structure starts to lift and tilt VERTICAL via a emulated joint. And the best part is, the buggies will maintain spinning around in PERFECTLY REALISTIC FASHION, just like the enterprise ride at amusement parks!!!!! It was so. DAMN. _AWSOME_. to behold!!!

THEMEPARK MOD!

Didn't the Valve team manage to create or working engine or somethin' to that effect?

I wonder if you can weld things to humans/with humans.... I would like to weld a dead body to Alyx, just to see what she does.

i dunno bout welding but i heard theres a gun that shoots sticky balls out and you drag things over to the sticky ball with the manipulator and it sticks together. pretty much welding i guess......

but sticky balls? cmon gabe is more creative than that ;)

*bb talks more giberish from his ass*

Will we see people creating crude armour? Get a sheet of metal about body height, weld two pieces of wood (i dunno if you can weld wood or what) to the sheet just below the players head/shoulder level, crouch under the wood and stand, lifting the whole thing up off the ground (the player head would go between the two pieces of wood). Then maybe a friend could weld a piece of metal to the back and sides too........

The created working gears, and then dropped a metal wrench into them and as such all the gears screeched to a halt.

I swear to god if anybody creates an actual engine in Source I will love them forever!!! That would be like THE coolest thing around.

*edit* also you can't make a buggy totally invulnerable cause you do gotta see lol...

BTW I hope this gun gets included. If it gets removed someone better mod it in :D LOL

i can just imagine having somone in mp weld sheet metal and random crap all over you turning you into a veritable tin man

Ooo!

Go into multiplayer, weld planks on eachothers feet, and have a race skiing down a slope :).

Would this mean it would be a lot easier for mod makers in terms of say having upgradable vehicles (more armour, etc), instead of multiple models but just welding some new materials on? Correct me if I'm wrong please!

i wonder if you can physicly deform object in hl2 ... like wake a tourch gun and cut stuff with it... and melt it together... thatd be sweet... i could make my own weapons in multiplayer...

P.S im really getting sick of idiouts deleating my posts so piss off

No you can't.

Back on topic though.

Yes there was a Welding gun.

Yes it was incredibly fun to mess around with.

No you cannot weld things to bodies and or monsters.

If it gets cut from the Bage I will mail bomb valve.

Stop doing things that cause your posts to get deleted then

Usualy if u shoot sheets of metal the bullet will go throught (depends on thickness of metal) , wonder if u can shoot thru objects if u shoot same place or long enough....

Just like Ned Kelly :sniper:

About the glider-type things and air resistance... things I've heard suggest that Havok does have air resistance in some form, but even if it's not implemented in a way that will allow true aerodynamic wings, all one would have to do is program a "Wing" object that creates an upward force with a magnitude dependant upon its forward speed...

I think there's no reason why you can't. Okay, there won't be parts like where the fuel gets mixed with air or something, but you could certainly make something that gets propelled by explosions. Although I doubt you'll have a gearbox or anything, but it'll still work.

err, i do believe you can, its just difficult because of how dynamic the characters moving parts are, I do remember welding a dead guy to a wall :P. lol.

only if the body has been specificly dropped as a physics object by the mapper, u cant shoot somone and then do it, at least not yet.

Didn't they show some kind of a telekinesis weapon in the E3 video? You know the one with the blue ray, kinda like the gravity gun, but you couldn't catapult objects with it.
