probably old news
but if you watch this video of HL2 in its alpha stage, showing off a hazard course, it features a pretty disturbing (IMO) gman scene!

when i first heard about it i was like 'omg' and simply had to find out so i youtubed it:

kinda trippy.. especially when the walls start shaking

I thought showing this stuff was illegal.

Oh wait it is :D

lol ive been away from the boards for a while
so im not really sure if i do something wrong
im just bored and want to talk half life

Yeah, we're not supposed to discuss alpha content in here. Interesting, though, I hadn't seen it before.

Nice vid, very atmospheric.

The GMan bit was a nice way of inserting the Hazard Course into the HL2 world, much as HL1s Hazard Course did. I can just imagine all the crazy theories people would have come up with if it made it into the final game. In the end though Valve went for a learn-as-you-play philosophy, which I think is better.

I thought it was a good insight into the mystique of the Gman.
whether the content seen is considered as technically canon (as in, if a situation like that DID arise in the final game, the same outcome would have happened), it clearly shows the gman as some strange figure of extraordinary proportions. I guess people knew that anyway, but to me it just shoots down the theory that he could be human at least.

Why didn't valve include this in the finished game? Not the hazard course itself but that creepy gman bit.
I swear that ****ing scared the living shit out of me. More than any horror movie I've watched, but that's probably my fear of the gman in general.

Oh my god that almost scared the crap outta me!

Cool vid. I wonder that is it a easter egg or no. Although i havent ever thought of Gman as a scarer, more as a weird old man.

Anything related to the beta/"alpha" release of Half-life 2 is not to be discussed.
