I havent played half life 1 out so im kinda confused of where the combine come in since ive been HL2 alsohow did the aliens get on Earth so fast if Gordon teleported like on Xen for 4 seconds????

I'm no expert and I'm sure there are lots of members here more qualified to tell you than me, but the human Combine are just normal people from Earth - many brainwashed/forced into serving.

The other aliens/synths etc. came to Earth in a series of portal storms triggered by you in Black Mesa. I don't think Gordon being on Xen has anything to do with it.

The combine were on Xen! thats why the big guy was shackled at the end, the combine had enslaved him! Ask Angry Lawyer, he'll explain it perfectly. He agrees with me, i think. (and Samon and Riomhaire)

Okay Okay but i didnt think the COmbine came to Xen and I knew the Combine brainwashed Nilethanth guy/alien so they left him alone but i didnt know about the storms! Also when Gordon was on Xen they got there in 5 secs (not the combine the vorigaunts did thats what confused me)

Like I said, many here know more about this than me, but I'll go on anyways...

As far as I know, the Combine is just a loose coalition made up of a few master alien races, with a whole lot of slave alien races, with humans being the next. It has always seemed to me like the combine were already in control of Xen by the time you got there for your little stint with the Nihilanth.

I doubt the Combine had direct control over the Nihilanth, he/it just conveniently served the same perpose. That or the Nihilanth is/was one of the higher echelon Combine.

The combine i thoght where cut up and stuff like there brain if you have sourse sdk open model veiwer and load combine striped and you see a combine with no top or hat and thay have holes in the head and stuff but the vorigaunts can teliport if you play the 1st 1 they kill you but if you remeber thay just apear in front of you green flash and the bang there thay are thring to kill you

If I'm not wrong, wasn't it confirmed that the Combine had not made it Xen, and Nihilinth had specifically run there to escape them?
In any case, by killing him we opened up a "Portal Storm" or summat crazy like that, that allowed the Combine to come to Earth and enslave us. They had also been after the Xenians, which is why you sometimes seen Vortigaunts in their possession, and why they used Headcrabs.
As for "getting there so fast"...it's been 10 years my friend. Plenty of time to teleport everythign needed for global conquest

Im very sure the combine are human' if you have "soures sdk" load modle veiwer and open combine striped, if you have or "garry's mod" load combine striped. they look very human to me but with some inhumane modificotions (sorry can't spell that) they have scars on both sides of the head, a cut down the cheast and a big round thing in there neck 'but thats just me have a look i will load a screenshoot up later to day

The answer is: from their own universe. Beyond that, we know nowt. They found out about Earth post HL1, showed up and kicked Earth's arse in 7 hours. Subjugated Earth's leadership, promised to spare humanity if it would improve itself to be good enough for them to assimilate into the combine, granted the newtype humans* some combine technology in order to keep the masses under-heel and sodded off without leaving a number for Breen to call. "We shall contact you Doctor when the time is appropriate!"

edit: and hectic glenn was pulling your leg about a Xen / Combine link. All that is known about that is that there were no Combine on Xen, the Xenians were hiding there.

And I still vote that "transhuman" should become "newtype" because it will infringe copyrights which Japanese people will never inforce.

Sadly Glenn, you are very much wrong . The Combine have since been proven not to be on Xen, and Xen was in fact a safe refuge for those who have fled their worlds from the Combine.

The Combine are from, as Kupo said, their own dimension. They developed technology they began to depend too heavily on, and eventually required it to survive. Ultimately they used it to travel from dimension to dimension, planet to planet in an effort to enslave other races, force this technology on them and strip their planet of any resources it had.

The only Combine that we see in HL2 is the Advisor, at the end, the rest are Combine soldiers - humans upgraded with Combine technology, and the Striders and gunships - synths.

Nihilanth fleed to xen from the combine. Attacked earth when the portal storms started, and then forced them open. (tryed to close them with the satelite but that was, if im not mistaking, the thing that made the combine notice us in the first place.) Gordon then went in to Xen to eliminate Nihilanth and close the portal. Im gonna have to replay half life 1. its been a long time. But after killing Nihilanth the storms got bigger and xen wildlife got teleported to earth weakining our defenses.

The Vorts, after Nihilanth defeat where now liberated. And just like other Xeniens where teleported to earth.
The Combine swoops in, teleporting in citadels, crushing the military thats left. The Vortigants now helps the humans since they are not so keen on slavery.

It is unclear, whether the Resonance Cascade and the Portal Storms are in fact the same thing. Some interpretations state, that it was Nihilanth's death that launched the Storms. No certain info has yet been found.
