Hi i have heard the vortigaunts aka. slaves speak but what the heck are they saying?

Ive heard some say they says "die human scum" and "die" and "we give up" but are there more things? :monkee:

oh and your right, I said "wee-ak", but it was "weak ah". like a short breath after the word, or it could have just been "weaker" as you stated.

but they definately had the ability to form words, perhaps even converse.

They are so completely made-up noises distorted on computer. You listen to something long enough and it sounds like words, but I bet if you asked valve, they'd say that no, they just had fun making funny noises into the microphone.

It pretty much sounds like random gurgling to me except when the say what sounds like "Die!", but that could be coincidental.

I can't recall ever hearing them say, "Weak," or, "Weaker." I thought most of it was alien-speak except for, "Die!"

The thing I remember them clearly saying was something that sounded phonetically like, "Hoo ee chi ka." They'd always repeat it twice, too. Sometime I'll reinstall the non-Steam HL so that I can get to the .pak file, and listen to them again.

Y'know, I'd swear one of them said "Ohhhrrrr shhhhhit!" in OP4 this afternoon. Could have just been the echo, though...

There's also "Wukk-wukka-wukka-wukko" or something along those lines...

Where are the sound files kept? On the CD? Or on the HDD?

They USED to be kept in a big file called pak0.pak on the harddrive. Everything from sounds to models to maps, dlls and things of that nature were kept in that file. Opened with a program called Pak Explorer. But now, with Steam, everything's in .gcf files.
