It's probably been send back to Valve x number of times, so they are probably still playtesting it.

I think Vivendi are holding it back (its porbably gold). Valve are going to release CS: S through Steam, therefore everyones going to buy HL2 through Steam (like me) and then Vivendi will eventually give in and release the game.

yeah i reckon in VU's eyes the game has gone gold, but for some reason they are delaying on announcing it and, consequently, a release date.

its not CS they'll be making the money from, its HL2. alot more people will buy hl2 in the shops then they will over steam.

technically, people WILL be buying hl2 next week, but getting to play cs:s early. so they will indeed be making money off the release of cs:s.

as for your second statement, we will have to see next weekend just how many people are playing cs:s final instead of waiting to buy from a shop.
