I played half life 1 and got all the way to the last boss (the big baby looking thing) and was never able to beat it. after about 2 weeks of trying, i gave up and never thought about it again. until today when i got half life 2, it starts with the same skinny dude in the suit as in the first. i remember hearing that he gives u some options at the end of half life 1, but i never knew. can someone tell me what happens after u kill the last boss and what the man tells u so that i can better understand the begining of this game. thank u very much.

well, after you beat that big ass boss... Gman will take you to a tram. though its a much different tram since it can hyperspace... or was it a normal tram? nm... Anyway, Gman asks you to join him... if you join you will live. but if you wont... Gman will take you back to Xen wer you'll be slaughtered by thousand of Aliens.

P.S. why dont you use cheats? so you can finish HL1?

You beat that boss and jump into a portal in his head. You then get teleported to a meeting with the G-Man and this is the closing dialoge:
Gordon Freeman in the flesh, or rather in the hazard suit. I took the liberty of relieving you of your weapons. Most of them were government property. As for the suit, I think you've earned it. The border world, Xen, is in our control for the time being, thanks to you. Quite a nasty piece of work you managed over there. I am impressed. That's why I'm here Mr. Freeman. I have recommended your services to my ... employers. And they have authorised me to offer you a job. They agree with me that you have limitless potential. You've proved yourself a decisive man so I don't expect you'll have any trouble deciding what to do. If you're interested, just step into the portal and I will take that as a 'yes'. Otherwise, well, I can offer you a battle you have no chance of winning. Rather an anti-climax after what you've just survived.

It's time to choose...
If you decide not to jump through his portal then you get teleported to a map filled with loads of aliens and then it ends (i.e. you've died). Naturally to get to the course of Half-Life 2's events you accept his offer and jump into his portal. The G-Man then says:
Wisely done, Mr. Freeman. I will see you up ahead...
If like me you really enjoyed the ending of the first, you'll really appreciate the ending of the second. How anyone can misconstrew the ending of Half-Life 2 to be boring or a disappointment - I don't know. For me it was a direct parallel to the original ending and mixed up the same ingredients of suspense and wonder in preperation for the next beginning.

thats kinda what i figured happened. thank u guys for answering so promptly.

Anytime.

I guess if you have the original Half-Life you could actually just skip to the last level to see this yourself but I'm not sure what the map number is. Someone else might be able to advise.

Basically just load up the game and type in "map xxxxxx" and it'll take you through the last part of the game.

to beat the boss you need to shoot those crystal things that he re-charges, then shoot him alot until his head opens like a flower and shoot the energy thing in it

Yeah Nihilanth isn't terribly hard, you just gotta know what to do.

the dark matter reactor blows up and alyx and breen die, but the gman stops time and saves gordon. gman then leaves gordon in a dark doom to wait his next assignment

What happens if you choose not to work for g-man? ;)
